Check Out Brad Suennen’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brad Suennen.

Hi Brad, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I grew up in the suburb of Chicago called Evanston, IL. In grade school, I started taking piano lessons. It wasn’t until around my teenage years that I picked up a guitar and started getting into bands such as AC/DC, Aerosmith, and ZZ Top.

At the beginning of 2015, I moved to Nashville to finish up my undergrad. A few months in I started to get into songwriting after hearing other people’s songs. Over the next few years, I continued to write and took vocal lessons all while I was still in school. Sometimes I would play open mics to test out my material, but it wasn’t until this past year that I started to get my foot in the door.

This past year was the most active that I’ve been with music between playing shows, networking around town, and releasing my EP “Back & Forth” that I’ve been working on the past two years.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The biggest obstacle has always been myself. The position that I am in right now is usually because of me. I also try not to get down when things don’t go the way I had hoped they would as well as not overthink as much. The past couple of years were really a blessing in disguise for me. It gave me time to do some self-reflection and work in order to become the person that I am now.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Aside from being a guitarist, singer/songwriter, and artist, I also know the audio production side of things as far as recording and mixing goes. When I do play out, it is still only acoustic guitar and vocals for now.

I haven’t given much thought into what sets me apart from others. I think maybe it is my resiliency to keep going after all these years despite the fact I still have a long way to go. I also try to keep an open mind to different opportunities that I may not be familiar with.
