Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Bishop.

Brittany Bishop

Hi Brittany, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My journey as an artist began at a young age. One of my earliest memories is seeing a caricature drawing of my late uncle riding a shark. I thought it was the most fascinating thing and immediately wanted to recreate it. At the time, I didn’t know how to draw, so like any kid, I traced it. Excited, I showed my mom and grandad. My grandad immediately recognized that I had traced it and gave me advice that has stuck with me ever since he told me that if I wanted to be a real artist, I shouldn’t trace but should keep practicing until I could draw it on my own.

I took his words to heart. I redrew that picture over and over until I could create it without tracing. I even paused cartoons on TV and practiced sketching different characters until I felt confident enough to share my work again. I’ll never forget my grandad’s reaction. With his signature humor, he smiled and said, “It’ll do,” followed by a laugh. That simple encouragement meant the world to me and pushed me to keep improving.

Creativity runs deep in my family. Each of them has their own unique talents and passions, and their hard work and determination have inspired me to pursue my own path. I owe so much to my mom and both of my grandmothers one of whom has passed for always believing in me, praying for me, and reminding me that I could achieve anything I set my mind to. Their support encouraged me to keep challenging myself and to embrace learning new skills.

I started with simple sketches that gradually evolved from cartoons into more detailed portraits. I’ll admit, I used to get frustrated when I couldn’t get the details just right, but over time, I learned to trust the process and have faith in the path God set for me. A turning point came when my dad bought me my first iPad Pro. At the time, neither of us realized how many doors it would open for me in the world of digital art and design.

Since then, my work has been recognized and shared by people around the world. I’ve had opportunities to collaborate with influencers, singers, and reposted by celebrities like Kevin Gates,Dej Loaf, 5x Grammy Award winner Candace Wakefield,Snoop Dogg,Trina, and Dj Khaled among others. I’ve also been fortunate to explore various forms of art, including custom apparel, airbrushing, handmade rugs, tattoos, and permanent makeup.

When I first started tattooing, many of my family members weren’t sure what I was going to do with it. Most of them didn’t even have tattoos themselves, so there was some hesitation. But to their credit, they never discouraged me. As I improved, some of my family and friends trusted me enough to let me tattoo them. I’m so grateful for their support and the opportunities they gave me to grow. Without God, my family, and the people and challenges I’ve encountered along the way, I wouldn’t be where I am today.

I’ve always believed there are no limits to what’s possible. I’ve dreamed beyond the sky. God has blessed me in ways I could never have imagined, allowing me to turn my passion into a career and even open my own private studio. For that, I’m deeply thankful. My hope is to continue learning, growing, and sharing what I’ve gained in the hopes of inspiring others to follow their own creative journeys.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
My path hasn’t always been easy. There have been many challenges and sacrifices along the way while pursuing my career. I often found myself at a crossroads between what was familiar and what was unknown. In order to grow, I had to take the unfamiliar route and trust that the dream God placed in my heart was worth following. Whether it meant leaving my hometown, building a new circle of friends, or learning something completely new, I chose to step out in faith and I’m grateful I did.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a visual artist who works with various mediums, including pencil and paper drawings, painting, digital art, handmade rugs, tattooing, and permanent makeup. I’m often recognized for my attention to detail and ability to capture intricate designs with precision. What I’m most proud of is how far I’ve come starting from doodles on class tests to creating permanent memories through ink for my clients. What sets me apart is my ability to not only create meaningful art but also provide a comfortable and memorable experience for each client.

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Some of the key characteristics that have contributed to my growth and success are passion continuing to love what I do; confidence trusting that even when I face obstacles, I should keep pushing forward; discipline staying motivated and never giving up because tomorrow could bring new opportunities; a growth mindset always being willing to learn and improve; and faith believing that anything is possible with hard work and determination.
