Check Out Brittany Taylor’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brittany Taylor.

Hi Brittany, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
After a conglomeration of major life changing events, I turned a leaf and moved onto a little chunk of land in Ooltewah, Tennessee with my son Jett, and our little dog, Bennie. I started a completely new life without any real plans for what would come next.. With zero experience, I began gardening flowers and vegetables. Next, I left my career in corporate HR and quit working for companies who treat their employees poorly and whose only interest was bottom line profit.

Then, I became an artist.

I had spent my entire life not knowing what my true talents or passions really were… Until my neighbor, Kaleb Knowles, who is an established artist, asked me to participate in an art show that he was curating in January, 2025. I was actually astonished to see what poured out of me onto canvas. After that, I continued to paint and before I knew it, I had expanded into several Galleries in just a few months.. I was selling pieces on social media within hours of them being posted. I started spending more and more time next door in the studio with Kaleb and his wife, Mily who started as my neighbors, became my good friends and now are like family.

Together, Kaleb and I started the organization “Blind Tiger Art” with the vision of bringing our community closer through local art events. We run pop up art markets, coordinate gallery events at various locations, and we’re working on plans to offer art classes and other events. All with the goal of keeping costs lower for participating artists and encouraging others who are new to the scene to come experience the atmosphere, meet like-minded individuals and support the community.

Looking back at the past year and seeing how everything in my life fell into place like clockwork is such a monumental feeling. As I sit here overflowing with gratitude, I can’t help but to laugh at some of the events that brought me here; However painful or frustrating they were at the time. It took all of those struggles on my journey in order for me to make it here.. and they were so worth it.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing worth talking about is ever a smooth road LOL.
That being said, I never even dreamed of becoming an artist. I actually had no idea what I was doing when I completely changed my life and my career. I legitimately did not have a plan; But there was definitely a plan for me and whenever I was not moving in the right direction, I was made very aware. I faced so many challenges that it would sound like I was making them up if I listed them out. Especially after I resigned from my career. At one point, I came home to find that my front door had been completely shattered…into little piles of tempered glass pieces on my front porch. I was speechless, until I walked closer and the sun hit them just right… and then I realized how beautiful they were. I swept all of them into a container feeling confident that I could use them for something.. And I did. Fast forward, one year later, I use these tempered glass pieces in almost all of my paintings to represent beauty in the breakdown. Every time I look at these unique little pieces of glass in my art, it reminds me that it is up to us to pick up our shattered pieces and then make the choice to create something better. It reminds me to pull myself present- and seek beauty in rare places.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My artwork is for sale in galleries or direct.
Outside of my art, I work as an Interior Design & Local Business consultant under my name:

Brittany Taylor | Art & Design.

I’ve been successful by word of mouth which is a really cool feeling. I’ve always loved the idea of speak-easys or “underground” concepts- such as a “hidden gem.” I accept local & surrounding business owners as clients. I offer interior design assessments, reconstructs, creative additions, and some marketing efforts including graphic design ads. I also accept private clients for home & interior design. This may include paint, décor and furniture arrangement, in-home gallery wall installations etc.

Clients are accepted exclusively based on the creative appeal of the project in congruence with what I have available as far as time is concerned. This is not first-come first-serve; And no job is too small to ask about. If I have a small portion of time open and your job fits, I may accept it.

How do you think about luck?
I wouldn’t choose the word luck to describe my journey. Although if you want to call it luck, I could never prove you wrong. I have definitely had favorable circumstances fall into place. Such as how I just happened to move next door to a very talented and established artist, Kaleb Knowles, who was kind enough to invite me to participate in an art show as a brand new artist. It was a surprising coincidence that an unknown passion and talent that not even I was aware of lined up. Kaleb and I somehow had the perfect combination of different backgrounds and experience to mesh for coordinating an art event. While planning a market, seamlessly, it developed into an art organization without us having any idea or goal going into this.
Or we could flash back about 15 years to when I was in college. Out of all the restaurants that I could have gotten a job at, I worked at the one where Scott Eiselstein was the Executive Chef. He became such a great role model in my life that I continued to follow him to open another restaurant. Working with him over the course of years, I learned that he was actually a pottery major in school. He opened the “Chestnut Tree Studio” and I kept in touch with him, having no idea that I would ever pursue art…. And now he’s the reason I’ve expanded into clay work.
There are more similar stories that I could tell. However, I see this question as an equivalent to one of my abstract pieces. “What do you see?” is always the question. And then you tell me what you see. I know what I painted, but I’ll never tell you that you’re wrong. Do you see luck? Or do you see divine intervention?
