Check Out Cavina Willson’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Cavina Willson.

Cavina Willson

Hi Cavina, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The love, appreciation, and understanding of sustainable, secondhand, and vintage fashion was instilled in me from birth – no joke. My mom was a vintage and secondhand reseller in Bangkok, Thailand in the 80s and continued her business even after I was born.

I grew up going with her to other countries in Asia to source and hunt for the best gems, and so I learned the ropes of fashion and re-selling from a very young age. As you can see, my mom has had an immense influence on where I am now – she is a self-proclaimed professional thrifted and sustainable fashion advocate.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It has not been a smooth road by any means but at least things were in motion. I started taking my influence online (starting a YouTube channel and creating more professional content on IG) more seriously in January of 2021 and it’s taken me 3 years to get where I am. It was not, and still hasn’t been overnight growth.

Gaining followers felt like pulling teeth the first 2 years and it made me almost give up. But I kept showing up and creating because I genuinely loved sharing with the community I did have. That’s what made me realize that I should never keep my eyes on the numbers but on the genuine relationships and connections I was gaining from being present and faithful to what was in front of me. I’m grateful for where I am!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m creative through and through and dabble in a lot of things, but I specialize in and am known most for sustainable fashion and thrifting. For the past 3 years, I’ve made relatable, approachable, and fun content that encourages people to choose secondhand, thrifted, vintage, and sustainable fashion and home goods over fast-produced options.

Throughout this entire process, I’m the proudest of staying true to myself and not compromising my beliefs. And I think that plays into what sets me apart from others! My audience knows who I am, and they can always expect me to share things that are a true reflection of my personality and passions no matter what anyone else is doing.

What does success mean to you?
Success to me is being content and at peace with my inner self through the highs and lows of life.

Success is doing things even when it’s scary and learning lessons from failure along the way.
