Today we’d like to introduce you to Chloe.
Hi Chloe, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Well in all honesty it all started after a huge break up where I regained my love for music following on from a soul searching Eat Pray Love trip to Bali.
After sound healing sessions & yoga & really tuning in to my subconscious & listening deep within, nothing had ever been clearer as to how to heal my heart it all came back to my love for music. Which I have pursued since then so around 6 years now.
After this voyage of self discovery & from channelling all the pain into passion, music was a huge part of my healing process. My only hope is to give that back to somebody else going through a difficult time.
I am very grateful for the journey that led me to here. Even if I did take the scenic route.
I took several courses, learning from mentors, studying the craft of songwriting, music business & music marketing & learning how to launch myself as an independent artist.
Before 2019 I knew little about the music industry and had never heard of music city before. Shocking I know!
I have since fallen in love with
Nashville and the community I have found there, small town vibes in a big city. Which reflects the small town I grew up in – Stamford, Lincolnshire. A beautiful Georgian town. I make trips out once or twice a year & write as much as possible during that time. I also take part in the Tennessee Runs Half Marathon – I have completed the last two years. Last year I ran the London Marathon & the Nice Marathon too – training from zero to hero literally in a small amount of time. Honestly I was never a runner! And only started to run four months ahead of my first ever marathon – bonkers I know, but it’s for a good cause and it’s a mindset thing. Really overcoming obstacles and excuses and pushing forward.
In Nashville I have met some incredibly talented hard working & inspiring souls. I love everything about Nashville – talent & live music on every corner. Inspiration galore & people at the top of their game which I have been fortunate to collaborate with.
I would love to move there full time – so if anybody can help with sponsorship I am a hard worker with an eye for detail & all ears. Hahaha. My expertise has been in luxury concierge, hospitality & events.
When I found songwriting after attending several retreats – I found my tribe and life somehow made sense – I had a new found purpose to bringing powerful messages through songs to people who needed to hear them. I classify my artist writing as very personal compared to my songwriting songs which usually have deeper messages.
What I didn’t realise was that I’d actually been writing songs my entire life looking back. I never knew there was such a thing as being a songwriter until I was 34! I was painfully shy growing up I feel I have definitely grown confidence with age.
Since 2023 I’ve been making regular trips out to Nashville. Working & learning from the best in the industry. The talent is so incredibly high here & it makes me realise how much more I need to learn & motivates me to push myself & level up each time.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Overall there have been so many ups & downs & failures. They say you need to get comfortable with uncomfortable and I am all for new environments & expansion.
You have to fail to succeed. I truly believe that. I don’t want to die with any regrets and the only regrets you have are the ones you don’t do.
Appreciating each small baby step and each small win is what has kept momentum spinning for me.
Along with hearing kind words from a fan when you really need to hear them (as that is serendipitously on the day you are telling yourself you’re never gonna get anywhere & you might as well give up.) There is so much beauty in the kindness we show to others & I truly appreciate the support I have received over the years. It’s important to bring smiles to faces and share kindness in the World.
Another struggle is being distracted by others, it’s important to concentrate on your own path. People try to lead you in all directions so staying true to you is essential. You are the leader of your destiny & I still feel like I’m experimenting as an artist as my songs are so different but I know I have developed so much over the last three years. It’s easy to get lost sometimes. Also, so many naysayers – people that don’t believe in what you’re doing or don’t see the point & think you are a dreamer. So surrounding yourself with like minded people & positivity is vital to overcome the struggles. Sometimes I do have to overcome my own self doubt too – getting older chasing your dream is a scary prospect! I always did the unconventional things though – that has just been my life & I guess I always will – “going against the grain” which is a song I recently wrote.
I have made sacrifices & pretty much became a recluse for a couple of years to really learn & move forward. Nothing ever comes without sacrifice in some form.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a recording artist & singer songwriter from the UK.
Mainly Americana & pop genres, I am leaning into the country because I love it but it is not my strong suit. I am known for my catchy melodic hooks. I am predominantly a top liner – (lyrics & melody).
I have spent the last 15 years working within the SuperYacht industry. I have been super lucky to have travelled the World with my career which brings a fresh flavour to my songs.
I have written a couple of pop piano ballads that have featured on the radio in England. I have now had three of my released songs play on BBC introducing – a UK radio broadcaster known for spotlighting independent unsigned artists so that is super exciting!!! Im hoping it will bring gigs my way as that is my next area to focus on.
One of the songs was co-written with a British producer Tyler Spicer. We met in Nashville a few years ago & have been lucky enough to work on lots of songs together. Tyler is predominantly country and has since moved out to Nashville.
Another song was co-written with the incredible Jeff Franzel. I’ve written country with Jeremy Edward. Then I’ve also written two songs with Steve O’Brien too – you’ll be able to hear those soon I hope.
Looking back to where I started – I am so proud at how much I have learnt and grown. There is still so much more to learn & develop too but songwriting and music is such a pleasure it never feels like work.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I am always open to collaborations, I love helping artists to finish their songs & find great hooks.
If you want to write or collaborate please get in touch.
I’m always looking to play gigs too so if you need an opener for your show please get in touch.
