Check Out Chris Love’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Love

Hi Chris, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started playing clubs as early as 13 years old. I was playing in bands on Beale Street in Memphis Tennessee back then in the mid 1990’s. My dad would take me down to Beale on the weekends from an early age and I would sit in with the old blues players out on the streets.

From then I was in and out of bands and had a solo artist career. I released a couple of records that were well received. During that time I was opening for major acts; Maroon 5, Jason Derulo, Switchfoot, Gavin Degraw, Foghat, Everclear and more.

After my solo career I got married, had kids and decided to leave that life behind. I could never quit music, it was just time for a change. I knew I could produce and engineer records and that’s where my passion has been ever since.

For the last 13 years I’ve been producing, engineering and mixing records. I started out with a little makeshift studio in my garage in Hermitage to now owning and working out of my dream studio in Lebanon, TN.

I’ve had the privilege to work with the top musicians and artists in the field. Platinum and gold selling artists, Multiple Grammy-winning and nominated Artists, ACM winners and more.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s not easy, haha. I’ve been in the music industry for over 20 years and I still feel like I’m just getting started. I’ve had anxiety my whole life, and that’s held me back in so many ways. So many opportunities I’ve squandered because of fear. Thankfully I’ve been working to understand and manage my anxiety and since I’ve had major improvements in my career and daily life in general.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m a producer, recording engineer, mixing engineer, session musician, music educator and stay at home dad/husband.

For the past two years I’ve been blessed to partner with Grammy winner Dan Konopka from the band OK Go. Dan is also a producer, mix engineer, session musician and dad/husband.

We produce and record artists from all over the world, everyday. To date, we’ve worked on over 300 songs together.

We feed off of each other’s ideas and always put the song and artist first, and so far that’s been a winning strategy.

I’m simply proud of the work we do on a daily basis. The craftsmanship and love for music is evident in what we do. It’s just such a blessing to be able to do this.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I think the industry is starved for authentic, raw music. Similarly to the 90’s, I believe people are craving more natural sounding music. I think the indie artists will continue to rise because of the internet. I think the industry will be consistently evolving and changing. It will be even harder to predict, even with technology advancing in predictive algorithms.
