Check Out Chris’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris.

Hi Chris, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I always knew Books4Guys was going to have a positive impact in some way, but I wasn’t quite sure how exactly that was going to happen when I first launched the community.

The idea was actually born through meeting conversations that I was having as a sales rep. In my role, I meet with a lot of business leaders and besides work we would usually discuss a couple of other things such as sports and books. The idea of Books4Guys came up when discussing how there are a lot of book club get-togethers for the girls, wine and book conversations, etc but not a lot for the guys. So, I said I was going to create something for the boys and boom, Books4Guys was born.

Fast forward a few years and after spotlighting several books on the website and on LinkedIn, the vision and mission became more clear about helping get more books into the hands of young men across the country. The questions became “How can I encourage reading in a cool way?” “How can I get books that young men actually WANT to read into their hands?” So that they continue being curious and embarking on their knowledge gaining journey at a younger age than I when started.

Now we have the Books4Guys podcast, give tons of books away each month thanks to our Community Members who support us, and are creating a positive impact like we envisioned!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Honestly the road hasn’t been that bad. This has been a project that I have been patient with and now that the vision is clear, I am full steam ahead on trying to grow and have greater and greater impact.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As far as work goes in my professional job, I am a Senior Account Executive for TekStream Solutions which is based out of Atlanta. It is a technology consulting and staffing firm, and my role is to play matchmaker for companies who are looking to hire and candidates who are looking for a new opportunity.

I love the relationship building piece to my role as I get to talk and meet with a lot of great people. I genuinely love what I do and love the excitement that comes with helping someone land their dream job and helping a client find someone who has a positive impact on their organization.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Oh wow – tons of people need credit outside of myself.

Will start with my wife – She encourages me every single day and speaks words of encouragement for everything I am trying to accomplish.

Friends, family, and colleagues – Can’t say thank you enough for their support, both monetary and with words of encouragement. Love when they ask for book recommendations too! Discussing books and giving them away is the best and most exciting part of this whole thing!
