Check Out Christina Taylor’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Christina Taylor.

Hi Christina, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I was born in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida but moved to Charlotte, North Carolina when I was 7 years old (so I definitely consider myself a Carolina girl). I’ve always loved performing for as long as I can remember. I was a cheerleader and dancer and eventually started singing out live at 16 years old at open mic nights around Charlotte.

I was writing around town as well, and while they have many talented singers and songwriters in North Carolina, I knew I needed to start immersing myself in the Nashville music scene If I was going to pursue country music as a career. So, at 18, I started driving back and forth to Nashville to write and play writer’s rounds.

After a few years, I decided it was time to make the jump and officially move here! I have been living here for almost 5 years now, and in this time I have been blessed to be able to consistently release music and write with some of the best writers in town.

My goal is and has always been, to raise the bar for myself with each song I release and I think “Somebody Will”, my next single does just that.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I think the biggest bump in the road I’ve had was I went through a little bit of an identity crisis in 2020, and something tells me I’m not the only one who went through this in that time period.

During a time when there were so much unknown, and so many people going through the toughest moments of their lives, I had to get back in touch with my “why”. Why was I pursuing being a singer/songwriter? Why did I decide to do this so many years ago?

And the answer is, that I decided to pursue this career with the intent to heal people through music. I wanted to give them something to relate to, something to get them through the good and the bad times. Once I reestablished why I was doing what I was doing, I was able to get back on track and create some of the best music I’ve ever created.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a singer/songwriter here in Nashville, TN. I am most proud of/thankful for the fact that I’ve had the ability to create music that people have been able to relate to.

I also think that is what sets me apart from some of the others in this town. I’m not writing with the intent of sugarcoating reality or writing the cookie-cutter version of what someone is going through. I’m writing about real stuff while also making it fun to listen to.

I’m writing about the worst heartbreak of your life but making it fun enough that you want to put the windows down in your car on a backroad while listening to it.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
The thing I like most about Nashville is the community. We have a great community of people ready to help and go out of their way for you in whatever capacity you might need.

What I like least about our city is, while there are lots of people ready to help, there are also a few that are here to take advantage. I think that comes along with any big community though.

Once you’re able to figure out who those people are, usually through trial and error, unfortunately, then you’re golden.
