Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Michael.
Hi Emily , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I am Emily owner of Tease Hair & Co.
I got my start while I was in high school actually ! I was taking fashion design classes and we had a fashion show at the end of the year where we picked our models to showcase the clothing. I did all of the hair and make up for the models and realized how much I loved that. After graduation, I enrolled at Paul Mitchell the school and I’ve now been in the beauty industry for my 13th year this year.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Work, work , work ! All things in life come with some struggles along the way. I’ve always known this was my passion. When hard times have been present I’ve always worked my way through it. Especially in an industry focused on beauty, there’s always changing trends or products. You just have to stay educated and stay flexible making those struggling times a lot smoother.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have been a bridal stylist and color specialist my entire career. I am know for fun vivid colors , extension work & everyday color maintenance. I am most proud of having my own salon in which I can create an environment that everyone loves to be in. I think in an industry that can be so much pressure at times, I’m very calm and accepting while also very detail oriented so in turn I attract people who can express their style and ideas through my craft – their hair.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I think in finding success you find joy. Everyone has their own depiction of that I’m sure. Do what makes you happy! In being successful for me, it means I love what I do for work. It means to love the life you have created for yourself. I’ve won Best of Franklin Hair Salon in 2023 & 2024 and that was a wonderful milestone to show success for me.
