Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Fligel.
Hi Erin, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I never thought I would end up where I am today. I’m not even sure where to start, but I guess I’ll start by graduating with a degree in Childhood Education. Growing up all I ever wanted to do was teach preschool and I absolutely loved working with children, but there is so much more that goes into to teaching. After coming to that realization and having a student suddenly pass away, I decided it was time to move on. I really had to think about what I wanted to do for a career since all I ever knew was teaching. I realized I loved everything about music and living in Nashville, TN made it easy to want to try and figure out that world. I started out in the spring/summer of 2019 volunteering with Song Suffragettes and working on the street team for WSM radio. Shortly after that, I was hired as a Publicist at 117 Entertainment.
It was there that I really learned about the ins and out of the music industry and what I truly wanted to do. Prior to starting at 117 Entertainment, I had started playing around in Canva and realized I really enjoyed it and ended up becoming our in-house graphic designer. During Covid, I took the time to learn Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator to really learn how to do graphic design and I would spend my nights and weekends doing tutorials to really learn how to use these programs. I would take what I was learning and apply them to cover art and social media posts for our clients. This is when I learned that I truly loved graphic design and decided to go back to school to get a master’s in Interactive Media and Communications from Quinnipiac University. After leaving 117 Entertainment to start my master’s in the Fall of 2021, I also started freelancing. That is when Erin Fligel Creative was started. Now with Erin Fligel Creative, my goal is to become a one-stop shop for content creation, branding, and social media strategy.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The road has had some twists and turns along the way. I think the hardest struggle along the way has been finding clients. Being a little more on the introverted side, networking is not an easy thing for me to do. In an industry that is based on personal relationships. it makes it harder to find clients.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My work includes everything from graphic design to photography and video editing. I absolutely love creating cover art for artists and have had the opportunity to create multiple covers for Scooter Brown Band and Karissa Ella. I also love being behind the camera. Whether it is for a fun creative shoot, a shoot just for social content, or something for cover art, I love it all.
I think I am most proud of the fact that for the most part, I am self-taught. I took the time to really learn the ins and outs of graphic design, photography, and video editing, and am continuously learning more with each project. I always say I don’t know how to do that yet, but I can learn really fast.
My drive to keep learning and growing definitely sets me apart as well as my approach to working with clients. I want to work with you to bring your vision to life. I approach it like a partnership.
So, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you before we go? How can they support you?
