Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah James.
Hi Hannah, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
For as long as I can remember, I have always been a huge animal lover and the type of person when I am obsessed with something, I dive deep into whatever I am fangirling over! Dogs and music are something that I am very passionate about, so whenever I got my Vizsla puppy I saw it very fitting to name him after Jerry Garcia, the lead singer of one of my favorite bands, The Grateful Dead! I have never heard of the breed “Vizsla,” until my brother-in-law came into my life, he had a Vizsla and I immediately knew I needed one of these derpy love-bugs! Their unique personalities are so contagious!
Since I have always been big into social media and in college, I majored in Public Relations, I thought it would be a fun passion project to start an Instagram page for my dog, @JerryTheVizsla! Vizslas are the most loving, intelligent breeds out there. They call these dogs “Vizsla Velcro” because these derpy, energetic love bugs never leave their owner’s side! On his account, I love showing his photogenic, derpy-loving self and all of our Nashville adventures we have together!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like many people, college brought me a lot of stress and anxiety about the future and if I picked the right career field. As a Public Relations major, a lot of times I felt insignificant for choosing a field that was not deemed as a “high-achieving” field such as a career in the STEM field. Struggling with self-doubt stopped me from living life full-heartedly, and I must say that my Vizsla puppy Jerry has been the best thing I could have done for my mental health and connecting to my true self! Through things such as running Jerry’s social media account has made me proud that I have picked a field that makes you use not only the left (logic) side of your brain but the right (creative) side as well.
In this day in age, I feel like a lot of people are more worried about what they think society expects of them rather than following their true wants and needs. I think it is very important to be a realist about your career path, but at the same time, I think it is just as important to keep your creative passion projects open and ever-evolving. Having Jerry has brought me an abundance amount of joy, and I hope I can share that joy with the world through my passion project, @JerryTheVizsla on Instagram!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I currently serve as Marketing and Communications Correspondent at Foundation Title and have recently started picking up freelance social media digital marketing jobs.
What’s next?
In the spring of 2022, I am planning on hosting a Vizsla Dog Walk somewhere around Nashville. I am at the beginning of planning, but information will later be on the @redvelvetvizsladogwalk on Instagram!
