Check Out Heather Dimmett’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Heather Dimmett.

Hi Heather, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
When I was a kid my dad taught me how to draw. I always had a love for art, but never imagined that I was going to be doing it for a career. I went to college for a year and majored in psychology, and while I was in school I got commissioned to do some different art projects for my friends. From there I was inspired to look into tattooing and getting an apprenticeship. I got my foot in a door at a shop and worked there for two years before I reached out to my boss Tai at Alchemy. I wanted so badly to join a shop with talented artists that I could learn more from. She hired me and the environment of the shop facilitated me, my talents, and a good environment for my clients. It’s been all uphill since.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It’s been a mix of some struggles but mostly a smooth ride. I got my apprenticeship very easily, but at a cost of not being in the best environment to learn in. Then my first year as a licensed artist was 2020, so when we went in lockdown it was a little stressful to think I just started progressing my skills and now I’m not allowed to work.
Now in the current time, I know most artists are feeling the pressure that you have to be a content creator to stay relevant. It’s been a bit of a struggle to balance my work life and personal life.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a tattoo artist, and I specialize in illustrative and fine-line tattoos. I am known for my clean line work and it’s what most people seek me out for. One thing that I’m proud of and that also sets me apart is that I showcase a lot of my healed work and have found a good balance to make my style work and hold up well, even though many say or believe that it won’t.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
I’m queer and love providing a safe space for everyone!
