Today we’d like to introduce you to Heidi Schwartz.
Hi Heidi, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I like to joke that I “Forest Gumped” my way into live event painting because it was truly by accident. I came to Nashville to do music and I created an album where every song had an accompanying painting. The entertainment manager at Opryland Hotel saw my art after I applied for a singing job on the showboat. I submitted my album and he saw my album art. Instead of being asked to sing, I was asked to live paint! And, as they say, the rest is history.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Craving out my own art niche has of course had some challenges. I’ve really had to learn to listen to my inner voice and cherry-pick advice.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a live event painter and I have a business called Paint Your Event. I travel to events to capture them LIVE on canvas, anything from fundraisers, corporate events, weddings, and galas. I create a space where performance art and fine art coexist. I have been privileged to travel the world, painting everywhere from New York to Los Angeles, Victoria Island in British Columbia to South Beach, and even as far as Sydney Harbour in Australia.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love that Nashville is a creative hub with a smallish (growing by the day) community. We have world-class creatives here and still manage to have an open warm culture. Nashville has been my home for 21 years now and I’m proud to say so.
