Check Out Hollie Ray’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hollie Ray.

Hi Hollie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Here is the About Us letter we like to provide for those who are just discovering Hollie Ray:

Welcome to our store! We are sisters Erica Reynolds and Noelle Holland. We opened Hollie Ray in 2016 in a small neighborhood shop in Franklin, TN. When we first started, it was just the two of us in our small little boutique. Now we have grown to two locations in the state of Tennessee, which has certainly kept us busy! One of the questions we get asked all the time is how did we come up with our store name? We combined parts of our last names (Holland + Reynolds) to create the name Hollie Ray. The second we said it, we felt like the name was perfect for representing the fun, cheerful, southern woman who we pictured shopping in our store. Our store reflects bits of each of our personal styles.. feminine, classic, yet trendy, and simple – with a pop of personality. We are both busy moms who understand that women need to fill their closets with versatile pieces that can range from the school drop-off line, to work, to the gym, to drinks with friends, date night, and running all the errands (aka browsing the aisles of Target in peace with a coffee in hand). When envisioning the experience that we want for our customers, we aim to fill our racks with high-quality merchandise that can help her lay the foundation for a long-lasting wardrobe, but we also make an effort to offer styles that are on-trend and express her personality. Most of all, we strive to provide the great customer service that comes with shopping small! Shop our collections from home or in-store, follow our social media, and reach out to us with any questions. We have literally poured our heart and soul into this company and we appreciate you supporting our small business! With love -Erica & Noelle

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Like any small business, our journey has had its fair share of bumps. Approaching larger corporations and malls as an independent boutique can be intimidating—we learned that firsthand with Greenhills Mall. As much as we loved being there, the center ultimately shifted toward global luxury names like Chanel and Prada. It was a tough reminder that as a small, women-owned business, we don’t always get the same opportunities as the giants in fashion.
At CoolSprings Mall, our challenge wasn’t competition but infrastructure—plumbing issues, rising crime rates, and other factors made it harder to create the shopping experience our customers deserve. But our commitment to serving Franklin never wavered. That’s why we were so thrilled to find our current space on 1st Avenue in downtown Franklin. While it’s just off Main Street (and still a bit of a hidden gem), it feels like home—a place where we can grow roots, pour into our community, and stay true to who we are.
Every struggle has shaped us into a stronger, more intentional business. We’ve learned that setbacks don’t define us—they simply push us closer to where we’re meant to be.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At Hollie Ray, we create wardrobes that carry women through every stage of adulthood—from their first job out of college to balancing career and family, and even into retirement. We believe the right pieces should feel timeless yet current, trendy without being disposable, and comfortable enough to move with you through real life.
We’re most proud of designing a boutique experience around clothes that women truly live in. That means no itchy fabrics or silhouettes that only look good standing still. For example, many of our denim styles include a smoothing tummy panel for extra support and a flawless fit. It’s small details like these that let women feel confident, polished, and comfortable whether they’re running a meeting or chasing after kids.
What also sets us apart is the heart behind the brands we carry. We love partnering with makers who give back—like WMP, whose sunglasses help rescue a shelter animal with every purchase, or Scout, whose jewelry is crafted from hand-picked gemstones and gives 10% of proceeds to women’s organizations. Supporting these brands means our customers don’t just shop fashion; they’re part of a bigger story of impact and community.
At the end of the day, we’re women designing for women. As moms, business owners, and style lovers ourselves—our goal is simple: to help women feel at ease in their own skin while looking like the best version of themselves, no matter what their day holds.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
For us, success isn’t measured only by numbers or square footage—it’s measured by the women who walk through our doors and leave feeling more confident than when they came in. If a mom finds a pair of jeans that finally makes her feel like herself again, or a young professional discovers a dress she can wear to both work and dinner, that’s success.
We also define success by longevity—building a boutique that can grow with our customers through every chapter of their lives. It’s about being more than a store; it’s about being a trusted part of their story.
Of course, as business owners, we celebrate the milestones—new locations, collaborations, recognition in our community—but the true heart of success is knowing we’ve made women feel seen, comfortable, and beautiful in their own skin.
