Today we’d like to introduce you to Jael Olivares.

Hi Jael, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
My name is Jael Arleth Olivares, I am 23 years old born in Matamoros Coahuila and raised in Kansas City. I am one of the Co-Owners and founder of Hey Pretty Ladies. A small business focused on modesty that started 2 months ago on its way to the big leagues. I have had a passion for fashion ever since I can remember. I began modeling at 12; my last pageant was when I was 15 years old. However, at age 15, I faced many life changes that led to lots of emotional and physical pain. A few months before I turned 16, I started focusing more on my relationship with my Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ. I had an encounter with Him that changed my entire life. Due to such changes in my life and beliefs, a lot of my goals changed. But, being a business owner never did. At 16 years old, I began collaborating on my social media, mostly Instagram (Simply.JaelOlivares). Following and engagement grew, leading to many young women and women, in general, asking me to open my own business. I prayed and prayed, and years passed, but I didn’t know where and how to begin. At 23 years old, I moved from Kansas City, Missouri, to Houston, Texas, where my fiancé lives. I began attending his church, and I met and created amazing, friendly relationships there. One of them is a sweet young woman married to a business owner. She and I shared the same goal about owning a business one day, and her husband and my now husband were so supportive through the entire process. On a random night at 10:00 pm, we decided to start. To start our own business focused on modesty. And now, here we are, shipping beautiful and stylish modest pieces.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been smooth?
Before starting my own business, one of the obstacles for me was that not many of the people I surrounded myself with had ambitious or just goals in general. So, it was hard for me to find people who would help me and encourage me. One obstacle we faced when starting Hey Pretty Ladies was getting to know our customers. Such as: what did they like, what didn’t they like, and what was their price range. We are still learning and always striving to improve our business.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am an influencer and co-owner of a small business focused on modest fashion. And I believe that is what sets me apart.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
What I love most about my city has to be my church, Restauración Divina (Divine Restoration Apostolic Church). It’s filled with amazing people who genuinely love me, care for me, appreciate me, and are always there to encourage me. And the last thing that I like about Houston, Texas. It has to be the traffic. It’s awful.
