Check Out Jalen Walls’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jalen Walls.

Jalen, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I’ve been writing since I was young since the age of 13. I grew up in a dysfunctional family and ran to the streets for guidance. Being raised by a single mother and having my father incarcerated most of my life then eventually dying of Kidney cancer led me even deeper into depression turning to drugs to numb the pain. In and out of juvy, I was a trouble kid. I dropped out of school in the 9th grade missing more days than I attended I hated school. Started selling drugs out of my Grandmas’s house and fell deeper in the game. Me and my Mother finally managed to get an apartment. Since she wasn’t working at the time I had continued to stay in the game. One night it was quite then next thing you know someone knocks on the door, then kicks it in they came in 6 deep to rob me. Not knowing who did it at first I go and buy me a Gun. Months later one of the 6 guys and another guy chases me down in a school zone while I’m on a moped as they are in a car. They kept trying to hit me so I opened fire on them in a school zone in self-defense then they called the police and wrote statements on me. I was Convicted of 2 B felonies and sentenced to 12 suspend 4 execute 8 years. So while locked up the 2nd time I decided to get pretty serious with my music and take it too another level once I got out. My mother had giving birth to a son while I was Locked up the 1st time. The father not being present she asked what would I like to name him I said Tre’sean. Within a couple of months of me being out on house arrest, my mother fell ill and passed away so I had alot threw on me at once. Most people would have let the little one just go to the system, not me. I went out got a lawyer and had gotten guardianship over him and we’ve been doing this thing together. He’s now 7 with our Mother passing a few years back. I started networking within the music industry and making connections and really pushing my music out there. My 1st event was in Alabama performing at Club M at a peeweelongway show in Birmingham followed by a few more with the most recent actually being in Nashville.

R.I.P MOTHER & FATHER

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
Nah it hasn’t been a smooth road. Stress, worry, suffering, anxiety, hate, depression, drugs, incarceration & ruthless women have all took a toll on me and I beileve I have PTSD from this road of mine. Like they say it gets worse before it gets better.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I make music about my past it’s like a release, a way to channel and express my built-up emotions and pain.

I specialize in being myself and being authentic as possible, personally and within my career.

I’m known for a few things such as a Father/Brother, Mentor, Motivational Speaker, soon to be Role model and Ceo & Businessman

I’m mostly proud of myself for keeping it real with myself along this beaten path and doing what needs to be done

I try not to compare myself to others so I’ll let the people decide.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Look just be you and don’t rush it, it’s all about the journey not the destination. The wounds and accomplishments from the journey make the destination. What’s meant for you will come. Stay dedicated genuine and persistent at what you believe in and you shall prosper.
