Check Out Jamal Govan’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamal Govan.

Hi Jamal, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I started taking photos as when I was 9 years old as a hobby. I was more into sports during my childhood. After High School, I attended Tennessee State University where I graduated with a degree in Graphic Design. While attending Tennessee State I was around a lot of other creative minds. That’s when I started to take photography more seriously. I always wanted to figure out how to make additional income as a college student, photography was the way I was going to do it.

In 2015, I created JGovanProductions (JG Productions) for short. Present Day, I have now been a photographer for 8 years and I also started a photo booth business alongside my photography business as well. As a photographer I want my photos to be exciting, bold, and stand out. I love being in a creative mindset and putting smiles on everyone’s faces.

The power of photography can take you places you never imagined. I am thriving each and every day to become better at my craft, while also being blessed for the opportunities I’ve had thus far.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Photography has its ups and downs like any other line of work.

But it’s more ups than downs because you control your own destiny by consistency. You have to want to be better to continually improve yourself and always grow and have new ways of thinking as a creative.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
Currently, I am a Full-time Process Analysis. I evaluate the current manual processes within the customer experience side of the company. Additionally, I create flow charts, and project plans, and manage the implementation of upgraded processes while working alongside our engineering team to create automation bots.

What sets me apart from others is that I consider myself to be a dedicated and dependable individual who encompasses excellent verbal and written communication skills. I have always been professional and had the willingness to learn before I lead.

What are your plans for the future?
My future plans are to continue to grow my craft as a creative photographer as well as a corporate America professional.

I want to develop any weaknesses I have as a photographer and enhance my strengths. Allow me to take bigger risks and understand that planning is key.
