Today we’d like to introduce you to Jesse Taylor.
Hi Jesse, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
It started in 2009 back home in Arlington, WA, with a CD I made in my mom’s kitchen with 10 songs I wrote. I was recently laid off from work because of the recession, and I decided just to hit the road and try selling my CDs across Montana and Wyoming. I did that in the summer of 2009, went home for the winter, and did construction. I headed out again to play music in the spring of 2010. I traveled around Wyoming and Montana for quite a while and was almost out of CDs, and I stopped in a bar in Marion, MT, to try and sell the last couple of CDs I had, and a lady heard me singing and offered me a job in Lanai, Hawaii singing on a dude ranch. So I went home, sold some pigs I had, bought a new guitar, and headed to Hawaii. I spent two years there and sang every day to guests I would take on trail rides, and one day in 2012, a man heard me singing at a local yacht club event and flew me to Nashville to record an album. Since then, I’ve been traveling and playing music. I’ve played for the navy in Dubai, a music festival in the Virgin Islands. And many bars and festivals all over the country. My wife and I moved to Spring Hill, TN, in October 2019, and a few weeks ago, we just sold our house, and we are going to hit the road for a while and focus hard on music full-time. We are still based in Spring Hill, but we are working hard to spread music the old-school way
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There are always struggles, but I’ve never been comfortable in a comfort zone. I always want to be pushing and working towards something. If I get too comfortable, I get stagnant and bored; it’s just not my style.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
My sound is more 90s country with a lot of rodeo songs. Growing up around rodeo, my dad always listened to Chris LeDoux and George Strait, so that’s a big influence. Being from Washington State, the Seattle music scene is also a big influence on me, and I love Nirvana and anything Chris Cornell was involved in.
Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My parents and my family have always supported me and helped me and also my hometown. Then my friend Archie invested in me to do my first full album in Nashville at blackbird studios. My wife is constantly pushing to be better, keeps moving to the next thing, and isn’t afraid to jump into any wild idea or plan with me.

I met Jesse and Stacy in a campground in southern Tennessee we were neighbors. They were the friendliest and most good natured people. It was a pleasure meeting them.
