Check Out Joe Carrell’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joe Carrell.

Hi Joe, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Treasure Isle opened in 1982 in the Berry Hill area of Nashville. We were the second studio to ever open in Berry Hill, which is now one of the most prominent and populated studio districts in Nashville.

We were the first Nashville studio to become all-digital, which attracted many high-profile names of the era, such as Dolly Parton, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, and so many more. While digital became commonplace in Nashville studios, this studio has remained busy over the years due to our spacious tracking rooms, which many engineers and musicians claim to be among the best acoustics they’ve encountered.

We are proud to say that this studio is still not only relevant but considered one of the premier acoustic spaces in Nashville. We continue to be the home to not only current artists such as Jason Aldean, but also to many high-profile orchestral clients as well.

As a busy engineer myself, I found myself needing a new studio to call home and moved into Treasure Isle in 2018.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Things have been relatively smooth since my move here in 2018, because so many musicians in the Nashville scene, already knew of the elite recording space here.

Though we encountered hard times during the pandemic, things have returned to normal and we are busy as always.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a recording engineer and producer who has been in Nashville for 20 years.

I am primarily known for mixing. I am proud to have recorded and/or mixed 11 Grammy-nominated albums, and over 30 charting #1’s.

I am really happy that my career has been so diverse; it is very ordinary for me to be recording an orchestra one day, only to be mixing a pop record the next day.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
Network with as many songwriters as possible and go out of your way to be as nice and likable as you can possibly be to everyone you meet in the industry.

You literally never know who is going to be the next superstar producer or artist,
