Check Out Josh Floyd’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Josh Floyd.

Hi Josh, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Abbreviated…….I used drugs and alcohol for 17 years. I went to 5 treatment centers, and have started life over from scratch 5 times. I went to a recovery/sober living home in Murfreesboro about 12 years ago, and it was what changed my life. Being held accountable around others restarting life, and doing the same things and having the same strive for a productivity and peace, was exactly what I needed. I always told my self as a stayed clean that if i ever had the opportunity to provide this for others, then I would. I emptied out my saving in January of 2021, and Hopeshot Recovery was born with 1 little 8 man house in Murfreesboro. Hopeshot now has 5 men’s and 2 women’s recovery homes, and we provide an accountable, safe space to recover for 66 individuals every day and night.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
No it hasn’t been smooth. I’ve mad mistakes, learned from them, corrected them, and grown as a result. I have had plenty of people doubt and speak negatively about my business, all while I ignore the circus and continue to grow.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have been in the substance use/alcohol space for over a decade. I have worked for state agencies as a site director for a 33 bed detox facility, a program director for a 36 bed residential facility, and the director of operations over a private, 38 bed detox and residential facility. I specialize in the hard cases. The homeless, the criminals with wrap sheets, individuals with no documents to prove who they are. I came to Murfreesboro homeless with 2 plastic bags, so I know what its like to start over in a place with no family or friends.

Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
If money is the motive, this type of business will either fail, or severely hurt those intended to serve
