Check Out Justine Chadly’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Justine Chadly.

Justine Chadly

Hi Justine, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
When my seventeen-year-old son and only child was murdered nearly five years ago, I faced the devastation that the Nashville community along with so many other communities nationwide is faced with: how could this happen? How could our country fail to protect our children? How can I, as a mother whose only child has been taken, go on?

We find our purpose through our pain. Gun violence plagues our nation and while we have organizations such as Moms Demand Action and Everytown for Gun Safety, we are not equipped to support this many grieving, and traumatized people. We know the effects of childhood trauma are vast even without a national emergency such as gun violence. However, it is our duty as a nation to protect and support the people. Grievers are often left to grieve alone in our society where we carry a need for positivity vibes.

Additionally, most others will not understand and relate in a way other survivors can. In Harmony Foundation was founded three years ago to provide resources, support, and community programs for those who have lost a loved one to gun violence. While we may not be able to silence gun violence, we hope to end the silence after gun violence.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s challenging to get the word out about our resources and support for survivors so we greatly appreciate the opportunity for publicity in your publication!!!

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We specialize in community music and mindfulness programming, accessible to all ages from anywhere in the world.

What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
As gun violence continues to plague our nation, we hope to be a community for the newly bereaved to find comfort and healing.
