Check Out Kay Renee’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kay Renee.

Hi Kay, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My interest in photography started in high school in 2010. I knew then I wanted to pursue a career in photography so attended both MTSU and Nossi College of Art to perfect my craft. Once I graduated, I began to shoot all different genres of photography to figure out niche. I quickly learned that portrait was the thing I was most good at. I started shooting weddings, family portraits, and commercial photography which has lead me to be able to do photography full time and open my own studio near downtown Nashville.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No, it has not always been easy. Some days I’m not really motivated and I compare myself to other photographers’ journeys. Sometimes equipment doesn’t function correctly but you have to roll with what you have. Everything happens for a reason. I allow myself grace and encourage myself to focus on what I have going on. Things always end up how it’s supposed to be.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in portrait and commercial photography. I’m known for my professionalism and clean work. I pride myself on over meeting the expectations my clients may have had for me when they see the end results. I’m most proud of recently receiving recognition from the Southern Entertainment Awards. I am nominated as Photographer of the year!! Also, I have been listed by Peerspace as one of the best 8 product photographers in Nashville! I feel like what sets me apart from others is just being myself. I don’t try to overdo it or am always trying to be seen. I just remain humble and let my work speak for itself. I’m grateful for every opportunity granted to me.

What matters most to you?
What matters to me the most is my impact on others. I enjoy helping people and being there for those who want to learn. I love hearing how I inspired someone because most days I feel no one is paying me any mind. Being in the position to help other creatives work really inspires me to work harder.
