Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelsey Thomas.
Hi Kelsey, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I have been in the hospitality industry for 13 years. I started pursuing my dreams in high school as captain of my culinary arts team. After graduating high school, I got a scholarship for best academics to take classes at Monroe College in New Rochelle, New York. One day in business class, students had an assignment to create their business plan. I took the business plan in a culinary arts school and manifested it into the dream I am slowly living today. After graduating from Culinary Arts School, I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality management.
Pursuing my dream as a business owner, Kelsey’s Catering Kuisine LLC has always been a dream of mine since I was 11 years old. I have managed a successful five-star Google Verified business for three years. Within the three years in business, I have become the best version of a business owner because I never gave up. I now own and operate my private chef and catering business on a need basis, and I also work when it is beneficial to my business and myself overall.
Can you talk to us about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
There have been some smooth roads and some bumpy roads along the way. My smoothest road has been the summertime and my bumpy road has been starting, winter, and fall. Something that I can say that affects the struggle along the way is the inconsistency of the clients.
A client and go smooth for meal prep or private chef dining for a month straight, and then after the meal prep or the catering has stopped a client can just not need my services anymore. But in the end, I am completely satisfied because they have either written a review or recommended me to a family member or friend.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a private chef whose specialties are Meal Prep Concierge Services, Catering, and In-Home Private Chef Dining Experience. I also specialize in making my healing herb seasonings for food and dietary restrictions. My proudest moment is back in 2022 after I had my second child, I released my Harmony Seafood Seasoning and Bold Seasoning for Lamb and Beef. I sold out my seasonings within the first 3 months of being in business.
My work speaks for food eaters because I am a scratch-base kitchen. I can make my stocks, sauces, desserts, seasonings, and my recipes from just a thought or a suggestion from others. I do not add a lot of salt to my food. I use a lot of herbs, vegetables, natural oils, and aromatics when bringing my food to life. I also like a little spicy to the pallet and I am not afraid to try different recipes or step out of comfort to satisfy my client’s needs.
What matters most to you?
Family matters most to me because they are only here for a limited time. Also, time matters to me because there is no limit to how far you can achieve your success, as long as you put in the time the outcome will show.
