Check Out Keosha Thomas’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Keosha Thomas.

Hi Keosha, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I started Tall Girls Matter after being out working at the Dove Award Event and talking to some tall women about our everyday struggles with locating shoes, clothing, dating and find men taller, and raising tall kids. At that moment, I came up with the name Tall Girls Matter and started an Instagram page in November 2017.

Then I had our first meet-up in LA at All-star weekend and designed our first logo which I printed in LA. I continued to grow the audience with Instagram and FB. In 2018, I had a meet-up in Nashville that went well. Fast forward to 2020 during the pandemic, I rebranded my logo for Tall Girls Matter and came up with the TGM logo; and girl on the logo with a globe to symbolize our reach being global, decided to have brand ambassadors, started doing live interviews on Tall Tuesday where I highlight tall brands and businesses.

Then I started to grow the brand with products such as t-shirts, hoodies, jewelry, and accessories. We have a Facebook group for all women where we address topics A-Z. I am also a personal shopper and resource for tall women. I mentor women from all over the world and help them to embrace their TALL BEAUTY, confidence, and wear heels.

Additionally, I created a clubhouse club for Tall Girls Matter where we talk about Tall topics in all areas. In February 2021, I had a meet-up in Atlanta where we ate together at Slim and Husky’s, I sold items and we took photos.

Currently, I just completed my first Tall Girls Matter Fashion Show virtually. It was called the Tall Girls Matter Virtual experience. We highlighted “Tallpreneurs” (tall entrepreneurs a name and brand I came up with under my collection), TGM models wearing our collection and other brands, had a live DJ, celebrity meet and greet with The Shindellas, and an amazing panel discussion on body inclusivity.

Our Instagram currently is at 7,231 followers and our new website is tallgirlsmatter.co.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Of course in life, there are curveballs thrown. I feel like these obstacles on your journey or course prepare you to be the BEST when you’re running the final lap to get the win. I would say financially when starting a company it takes a lot. So it’s important to understand your own mission, goals, and where you are in life when starting out a business.

I would say being a start-up company and officially being out here as a full-time entrepreneur, working in the corporate world, and having my own family can be tough at times with a work-life balance. I have a lot to do and I have to be strategic about the moves I make professionally and personally. I don’t have time to waste. Time is money.

Additionally, I would say finding the right people to be involved with my company can be challenging because you want positive work relationships and you have to take risks when you depend on others you may not know.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Tall Girls Matter was started in November 2017 when Keosha attended a Dove Awards Event. She birthed Tall Girls Matter that night while talking among a table of tall women about their challenges faced growing up TALL, where to shop for clothing and shoes, bullying, heels, and dating tall.

In 2018, she had her first Tallgirlsmatter meet-up at the LA All-Star weekend at Porsche event where she mixed and mingled with tall beauties and celebrities. On her trip, she created her first line of Tall Girls Matter t-shirts. From there she continued to expand and rebrand Tall Girls Matter with a new collection known as TGM Collection. As a result, the #TGM community includes multiple TALL brands, models, and creatives.

During the pandemic, she started her TGM Talk where she highlights brands, companies, and hosts events on Tall Tuesdays on Tallgirlsmatter IG LIVE. In spring 2021, she was recognized with an award for her work in the tall community called, We See You, Sis, by an organization called Gratitude for Black Girls. She was named a Women Worth Watching.

She recently hosted her first virtual fashion show and event on September 18th in Nashville. https://www.newschannel5.com/talk-of-the-town/tall-girls-fashion-show

In a growing city full of transplants, Keosha Thomas is a unicorn – a rare native Nashvillian. She is the proud Founder/CEO of Tall Girls Matter hailing from Nashville, TN, and standing tall at 6 0.” In 2017, she launched Tall Girls Matter to bring awareness to the often overlooked tall female demographic for women and girls at the height of 5’9” and above. The branding includes merchandise, empowerment, and media content.

Driven by her desire to see more representation of women who stand at over 5’9″ in all ages, sizes, body types, and races, she founded the support group “Tall Girls Matter.” The group is an internet sensation, connecting women all over the world who are on the journey to embracing their height and building a supportive community.

A self-described ‘Jill of All Trades,’ she leverages her keen acumen for marketing with her wealth of public relations experience that spans more than a decade. Ms. Thomas’ attention to detail while maintaining a high-level vision of an overall goal has opened doors for her to work with and establish long-term relationships with legends in the entertainment business who are simply recognized by a single name (Prince, and Snoop, for starters) including Grammy award-winning producers to celebrities with household names like Kim Kardashian, Kevin Hart, and Kelly Rowland, to the up-and-coming talent on the verge of making a name for themselves in the world of entertainment.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I grew up as an only child and was always the tallest little girl in my class growing up and I was very quiet and shy. I remember never wearing out a pair of shoes because my foot grew so fast each school year. I was always very smart and a straight-A student, I attended magnet schools for art. I always loved drawing as a kid with my grandfather and making sketches of girls in different style outfits and hairstyles.

SO, I would say, I have always been creative. Additionally, I have always loved writing. I have published my poetry at an early age in the 5th grade.

My parents always kept me involved in Girl Scouts, sports softball then basketball and when I was younger like 5-8 I was a twirler and did pageants.
