Check Out Kris Wood’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kris Wood.

Hi Kris, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’m Kris Wood, and I’ve been in the event planning industry for 5 years. I grew up in the middle Tennessee area, went to MTSY, and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in the music business at MTSU.

Music is my first love – I worked in the music industry for Sony/ATV Music Publishing for 4 years before I became a mom and haven’t stopped loving it! After I had my daughter Charlie, the opportunity to try my hand in the event industry fell into my lap!

I was the administrative assistant and wedding day assistant for another wedding planning company with some of the most special friends until I just decided to go for it and start my own event planning company in January of 2020!

I’ve been married to my sweet husband, Jeff, for almost 8 years, and we have 2 beautiful children – our daughter, Charlie, who is 5, and our son, Ollie, who is 3!

Wedding planning wasn’t something I thought I would fall in love with but here we are! I can’t believe I get to call this my job – it is a DREAM!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Oh, it’s definitely not been a smooth road.

Owning a small business isn’t for the faint of heart! It takes so much intentionality and forethought – especially in the wedding planning industry. And sure, it hasn’t been easy, but my goodness it has been a thrill!

And not only do we cherish the client relationships we’ve made along the way, but the vendor relationships have been so much fun to cultivate!!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
We are a wedding planning company that offers 3 different packages: event management (or day of/month of coordination, as it’s more well known), partial planning, and full planning.

I’m really proud of the support we’re able to give our clients as we help plan their weddings! Whether they are an event management client or a full planning client, we’re available to them through the whole planning process and make sure they’re comfortable, even though the stress wedding planning inevitably brings!

We love to talk through a client’s vision, help them piece together a design, and watch that design unfold as we set up on the wedding day – it’s so rewarding!

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love the diversity and inclusivity Nashville brings! It’s honestly such a fun city. The worst part about Nashville is the constant construction, and I know everyone will back me up on that one!
