Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyle & Lindy Majnaric.
Hi Kyle & Lindy, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, how can you bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Faith Grazing Farm started on, well, faith. In 2020, six years after moving to Nashville to pursue music, my (Kyle’s) parents, Dan and Darla Majnaric, decided to move from northeast Ohio to middle Tennessee; with the desire to find enough land to have horses and use them for ministry. The real estate market made it easy to sell a home, but almost impossible to find one reasonably; so after selling their home in Ohio within 24 hours of listing, my dad went to live in an RV park in Dickson. He drove countless hours down back roads in search of a home, while my mom stayed in Ohio for work and lived with her parents. This went on for months, with the ups and downs of near misses and contracts falling through in strange ways. My dad cried out to God, as he felt led to Tennessee, but was now homeless with no clear end in sight. Finally, in a step of faith he left a note on the porch of a farm that wasn’t even on the market; and, to everyone’s surprise, they replied, “we’ve been looking for a sign to sell.” Upon discovering that the land was 78 acres, he reached out to me for help, saying, “we have an opportunity to get an amazing property, but I can’t manage it alone. Would you be willing to move out here with us?” At the time, I was living in Bellevue and had recently gone through a divorce. In the face of that tragedy, and adding to it the fact that the pandemic had limited how much I went into town to write and play music, I decided to move out into the country. The mission was to make a place where people could reconnect with God through His creation. We went to work clearing land, fixing fences, building a new house, and preparing the farm for such an outreach. The work was therapeutic for me and my friends from town, who longed to get out of the city’s concrete jungle. As the work happened, so did deep conversations, prayer, and healing; the ministry had already begun. God was on the move in Bon Aqua.
Five months into farm life, the new house was coming along, the fences were fixed, there was a herd of Texas Longhorns in the pasture, and my parents and I were plugged into Cross Roads Cowboy Church down the road; but little did we know, God was about to bring another blessing into the picture— Lindy. At that time, I was preparing to move back to Nashville after returning home to Wheaton, Illinois, in the wake of the pandemic. I had been a flight attendant for 6 years, but was considering other career paths, including radio broadcasting. One night, I felt clearly led by the Holy Spirit to follow WayFM Nashville on Instagram, and the first three people they followed. I did, and it just so happened that Kyle, having recently been followed by them because of an interview for a Christian music festival, was one of those three. No mutual friends, no possible connection, and yet, through a gentle nudge to follow a new account on instagram, God had crossed our paths. The steps of faith continued as Kyle decided to reach out to me and go on his first date since the divorce.
To make a long story short, 11 months later, we were married at Cross Roads Cowboy Church and had our reception at Storytellers Hideaway Farm. Since then, Faith Grazing Farm has continued to grow. We have added horses, sheep, chickens, and goats, put up a writing cabin, and have started working more on the garden. The longhorn herd has also grown, and expanded to the Storytellers Hideaway Farm down the road, the place Johnny Cash called the center of the universe; and where we have been asked to book and manage weddings and other events. We are taking steps towards more community outreach through the garden, equine therapy, and hosting worship nights. Many visitors have already experienced how God can move through community and His creation. We all feel called and blessed to be in Bon Aqua, and look forward to taking one more step in faith at a time to see what God has next.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
God has been gracious to us every step of the way. He has surrounded us with great people, and continues to open doors we never expected. We are continually humbled and thankful for all he does here in Bon Aqua. Though it has taken a lot of hard work and many lessons up to this point, it has always been evident to us that He has a purpose for us on this farm, and in this community.
Thanks for sharing that. Can you tell us more about your work?
Beyond the ministry on Faith Grazing Farm, booking weddings and other events at Storytellers Hideaway Farm, and leading the youth group at Cross Roads Cowboy Church; we are both creatives. I (Kyle) write and play Christian music, and while Lindy and I do write songs together, her most immediate creative endeavor is writing a devotional related to her career in the airline industry. We enjoy using our gifts to glorify God, and look forward to welcoming others to use their creative gifts on FGF through worship gatherings and writers’ retreats. You can find my music under Kyle Thomas (my middle name) on all streaming platforms and @kylethomasofficial on social media. Lindy has yet to announce her book release date, but you can keep up with her @lindymajnaric.
What makes you happy?
Frederick Buechner said, “the place where God calls you is where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet.” We find deep gladness in farming, serving, being creative, worshiping, and helping others; and we are blessed to have the opportunity to do all of these things on Faith Grazing Farm. As people seek to find peace in the chaos of our modern world, we long to be a city on a hill (Matthew 5:14), a haven for those searching for refuge and reconnection. This is our calling, and we look forward to sharing the love of Christ with anyone who comes our way.
