Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyra Morgan.
Hi Kyra, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been writing songs since I was three years old. My parents have home videos of me making up songs, one about corn chips being a notable one. Throughout middle school and high school I participated in showcases and talent shows where I played my original songs. Once I graduated, I moved to Murfreesboro TN to study songwriting at MTSU. During my time there I was able to curate my craft and release my first song “Til Home” in 2022. Since then I’ve released seven more songs and discovered I really love creating pop-club music. In addition to creating music, I also run a PR company for independent pop artists in Nashville called “Pink Noise PR.” I wanted a way to give back to the independent pop community because it’s truly helped me grow so much over the past few years. I lost my day job back in March and decided it was time to take a leap of faith and just do it.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. As an independent artist you are forced to wear every single hat in the business. That ranges from being your own marketing manager, content creator, social media manager, booking agent, you name it. The struggle was balancing all those tasks while simultaneously working a day job, maintaining my mental health, and pursuing other hobbies as well. I am very fortunate though because I have such an amazing support system of other creatives and non-creatives who uplift me on a daily basis. Without them I truly would not be as successful or disciplined as I am today. Those who you surround yourself with really do make a world of difference.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a pop singer-songwriter in Nashville, TN, a pop-star if you will. I specialize in creating pop music, specifically club-pop. I’ve recently found a love for club music and realized there’s not a ton of club-pop music or club-pop artists that currently exist, so that’s been an adventure in itself learning how to bridge the two genres while being authentically me. What I’m most proud of right now is that my first ever club-pop song that I released got played on Broadway at Morgan Wallens. I cold dm-ed DJ Eric Fortin and asked if he’d be willing to play it and he said yes! The answer will always be no unless you take that shot!
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory would probably be anytime I was riding in the car with my two younger sisters. We always had our designated seats in the back, with me of course sitting in the middle, and no matter where we were going we always managed to make a good time out of it. Now that we’re all older and I live out of state, it’s those memories I look back on the most.
