Today we’d like to introduce you to Lexie LaPlante.
Hi Lexie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I grew up at the Jersey Shore and started singing and playing piano when I was 8 years old. As I grew up I started writing songs, learned guitar, and attended a Performing Arts High School. Although I attended college in NYC for fashion merchandising, I always took the train home to play music on the weekends. In 2024 I moved to Nashville to fully pursue a career as an artist and work full time as a musician on Broadway
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
The biggest struggle so far has been giving up a “practical” degree and leaving my home with all of my friends and family to move to a place where I didnt know a single person and start brand new and follow a dream. It was the scariest thing I’ve ever done, and to be honest it still scares me, but I think it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
When I’m not playing covers on Broadway, I am writing new music, attending writers rounds, and getting in the studio to record new music. It is so fun to have complete control over the creative aspect of my job and I am so thankful that I am able to support the creation of my original music by playing music for an audience that wants to hear it!
Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I love to read, its one of my favorite things outside of music. Ive found that when I dive into a new story (murder mystery, thriller, love story, etc.) its the only time I can truly disconnect from the world. Its also a great way to get inspiration from a source that is not TikTok, Instagram, or social media.
