Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Dinzebach. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Michael “Cricket” Dinzebach is the founder of clothing brands Good Days and Antler & Woods. Good Days is a lifestyle brand that celebrates the best moments by being in the moment. Our goal is to design good clothes for good times – think bright terry cloth sets to cozy sweats and hats for every occasion.
Where country roads and street culture collide, Antler & Woods crafts limited edition quality goods. Antler & Woods pulls inspiration from both city streets and country roads. We offer a full range of apparel and accessories that are “Crafted For Adventure”.
I’ve had the opportunity to work with some amazing brands and people. Some of my favorites have been with the NBA and the Brooklyn Nets. I designed the fight night look for two-time middleweight world champion Boxer, Daniel Jacobs for his title fight against Gennady Golovkin at Madison Square Garden.
My company’s biggest market outside the United States is Japan. One of my proudest moments was traveling to Japan and touring all of the stores my clothing was in. It was an incredible experience going from Osaka, to Tokyo and Kyoto…seeing my clothing in various stores and building lifelong
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It was a pretty spontaneous decision to jump into fashion. I had interned for Damon Dash/Rachel Roy so was able to see how the operational side of running clothing businesses worked. I had saved enough money to start Antler & Woods but knew I would have to learn as I go. I understood design and could visualize what I wanted to create but had no idea how to actually produce a garment. I was only interested in making premium cut and sewn clothing and I still pride myself on not using any blanks. The hardest challenges of starting up was finding quality manufacturers and learning how to properly size your garments. Getting into fashion with such little experience helped me in the long run…I honestly think I would’ve been pretty overwhelmed and a bit timid if I knew everything I was going to face. To this day, I’m constantly learning, whether it’s testing out new fabrics or navigating business operations and logistics. My current challenge is trying to find the right location to open a Good Days store here in Nashville. I’m super excited about being part of the community and hope to open by Q2 2022 (if not earlier).
Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I think collaboration is key in art and design. It allows you to see different aspects and ideas through the lens of others. Being open and supporting others is so important. I’ve created two small businesses and this would not have been possible without support and collaborating with others. I love teaming up with fellow creatives…feel free to reach out to me at hello@gooddaysny.com.
