Check Out Michael Lockridge’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Lockridge.

Hi Michael, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I lived a big portion of my life in North Carolina always being creative. I got started working in the film industry wearing many hats behind the scenes on TV series such as One Tree Hill and several independent films and major features. My love of music in every genre pulled me into my own creative space shooting music videos for many local artists. With some of the budgets being low, I was forced to learn every aspect of the creative process and in most cases directed, shot, and edited most music videos. I eventually built a small crew where I offered interns to play a role in each project which offered me more time to focus on my true love of being a director. There were times I used my own money to hire DPs on larger projects.

As time started to fly by, some of my clients made the move to Nashville and Los Angeles to pursue their dreams of songwriting and performing. This forced me to fly out to Nashville and Los Angeles to work on projects. I realized if I wanted to continue my passion of directing music videos I had to follow, as North Carolina didn’t offer me much work. Before moving I made great contacts such as Nashville local DPs and record label video commissioners. After several flights for meetings in Nashville, I bit the bullet and pulled the trigger, and left everything I knew in North Carolina to start fresh in Nashville. as a music video director.

My first week in Nashville brought many meetings and a project for a new release right off the bat.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been an easy road and I still have some hurdles to jump over. What I can say is along the way I have continued to follow my passion while working other jobs to “pay the bills”. Traveling to even work on small projects were quite costly. Regardless, I never gave up.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I direct music videos for the music industry. I specialize in the entire creative process. I am known for implementing a cinematic approach to most of my projects. I am most proud of continuing the support I give to my clients and love calling them my friends. What I mean is when they have a show, I go. What sets me apart is regardless of the budget, I do my best to give my clients more.

Any big plans?
My plans after making Nashville my home is to focus on creating for bigger clients and adding more and more work to my portfolio. Ultimately, I would like to invest in a creative space to offer more services for artists and labels. With that being said, Nashville has a ton of creative spaces that I cannot wait to use.
