Check Out Miss Duana’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Miss Duana

Hi Duana, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?

I am a full time hair stylist by day. I started braiding hair when I was about 9 years old. I was the quiet kid in school who was always weirdly creating something. Art Contest. Hand Writing. Spelling Contest— that was my jam. lol still a geek about most of these things despite any error in my typing here lol.
At the early age of 13 — March 2002 I became a mom for the first time. My entire world changed. I didn’t get to make any excuses. I had to further tap into my creative side and figure out ways to provide with the limited job options for 13 year olds and definitely not 13 and full time parenting.
She became my greatest motivation for “getting out”

Now at 36 years old and a mom to a 13 year old young lady. I am still learning and growing business  2024. I have added even more personal motivation is the blessing of being a grandma. Yep! That’s right, my girl gave me a grand girl. My Grandma was where I learned so much about patience, femininity and faith. She also played a huge teaching role in how I handled my daughter when she was very young. I have a new drive for how to do business and motherhood. The balancing isn’t at all easy but its so important.

The past year I’ve opened up my heart to teaching more young girls who aspire to take care of the next generation of women just like I did at their age. It not only teaches a skill but confidence and community as well in our little groups.

2025 I plan to write more and detail more of my story in hope that someone will pick up my book and can simply take a tiny bit of inspiration and hope from it.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?

Obstacles and challenges…? I would love to hear anyone say they haven’t had any lol That would sound so foreign to me. The challenges are a forever thing. The thing I’m learning is how to respond, how to properly prepare and how to bounce back. when the obstacles do come, because one thing is for sure –they will come. When you think about it, how victorious would it even be to “WIN”without the feeling of real challenges or even a bit of what feels like loss. So yes, embrace the obstacles they truly set you up for a more solid foundation in the end.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a creative professional— I am a licensed cosmetologist and salon suite operator.
I follow a pretty professional business practice but the creative in me is what sets me apart. I am an artist in ever sense of it, very much detail oriented. I love to teach and learn. So I tend to stay up with the trends while always adding the personal touch to my work

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?

favorite book,
-we should all be millionaires by Rachel Rodgers, people probably think she pays me to mention it. She does not, lol
-5am club

favorite app
– calculator (I can’t math in my head as rapid as id like)
-the weather app lol I have a little obsession with checking to see who has the best weather just in case I can find a random 4k laying around to travel there the next day lol
