Check Out Nate Ramos’ Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Nate Ramos.

Hi Nate, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I am 25 years old and did not think about playing, or even touching a guitar until I was 21 years old. I decided I wanted to learn guitar because I loved music and the idea of gathering friends around a campfire, or anywhere really, and singing songs together. I never had any intention of playing live music or writing my own music. Through the end of college and through the Covid-19 pandemic, I played A LOT, learning guitar and learning songs that I love to sing in the car. I decided to record myself singing one time, sent it to some friends, and got good feedback. From there I decided to book a gig at a local restaurant and was hooked ever since. I now play 2-3 times a week and am looking to make the move into being a full-time musician.

I have now also been writing songs since early 2022. I picked this up on a whim, just trying it out originally, and found I really enjoy the process of piecing a song together from a small idea. I feel confident in my ability to identify a good song vs a bad song and that is why I feel confident in putting some of my music out on streaming platforms for others to hear. I started with my favorite song I have written, Across The States, and have 6 more acoustic songs coming out this year. All 7 songs will be compiled into an acoustic EP after I have released all of them as singles. I am super excited to continue writing and seeing how people react to my original music!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road so far. I would say the majority of my struggles come from my own self-doubt.

Solidifying my belief that I can really make a career for myself in music has been a struggle. For someone who did not start playing guitar until I was 21, and at 25 am just now trying to be a full-time musician, it sets me back compared to other people who may be younger.

However, hearing stories of other people who were in the same situation such as Luke Combs, Ray Fulcher, and Charles Wesley Godwin, really inspires me. It shows me that if you are willing to put the work in, it does not matter your age! I’m sure I will face many more challenges in the years to come, but the majority of my struggles have stemmed from myself (and that full-time job I am now leaving ha!).

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
The main piece that I would like people to know about my work is that I am trying to create music about real, meaningful things. Topics that will just maybe get someone to resonate with, or really feel some type of way about. That is what I appreciate in the type of music I listen to, so I want to follow suit in creating songs like that. I’m always writing but am currently focusing on releasing a set of 7 acoustic songs (6 originals, and 1 cover). These songs will be released as singles and then compiled into a 7 song EP as my first ever releases. From there, I would like to build my music out more with a full band and see what else I can add to my songs.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I was very very shy and interested in pretty much nothing but sports.
