Check Out NEDY’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to NEDY.

NEDY

Hi NEDY, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I grew up with my dad always playing music around the house. My uncle, his brother, sang professionally in a Spanish Pop duo called, Matricula 2. My brother and I always tried impersonating my uncle singing his songs and pretending to perform like him on stage, using broomsticks as our mic stands. I started playing guitar when I was 14 but I wasn’t born a singer.

It wasn’t until I was around the age of 21 that I took voice lessons and learned how to sing. I had a deep passion for making music my career and wasn’t going to let anything stop me. I naturally evolved from a guitar player to a singer-songwriter, to an Inspirational Pop Artist. I love expressing myself on stage and taking the audience through a memorable experience during my show.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely not! It’s been quite the journey, full of ups and downs. I’ve been blessed with many opportunities such as opening for artists like T. Graham Brown and 7eventh Time Down. I’ve gotten a lot of media coverage with outlets such as People, ABC, CCM Magazine, and more but on the other side of every mountaintop, there are many valleys that most people don’t see.

I’ve been ripped off, lied to, and had many closed doors and “no’s”. I’ve struggled with being able to financially sustain/fund my music expenses while figuring out how to pay my rent. I think another struggle is figuring out how to navigate and accomplish your music goals without there being a “textbook” that tells you how to get there as with other careers that exist.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an Inspirational Pop Artist. I’m also the Founder/President of the anti-bullying non-profit, Friends Forever Club.

My team and I have also just launched a new kids’ YouTube series called, In With The Outcasts. I’m also in the process of writing a children’s book series and my first single in Spanish, “Encuéntrame” will be out on Valentine’s Day. It is the perfect love song to slow dance to!

Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
Resilience. If you want to survive in a very difficult industry, you’ve got to be tough. I’m always amazed at how much more resilient I’m still learning/needing to be.
