Check Out Olivia Tennison’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Olivia Tennison

Hi Olivia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have had a passion for creating content since I was 10 years old. I remember I used to collect images and create these little slide shows and gather my family around to play them. This quickly transitioned into starting a YouTube channel. At 12 years old I was posting videos weekly to a slowly increasing group of subscribers. All of this came to a halt when classmates started to find out about my videos. Fast forward 10 years- with the same passion living inside of me, I also fell in love with fitness. This love for fitness presented itself in many forms throughout the years. I battled an eating disorder in college which eventually became the inspiration and force behind my journey back into content creation and discovering a way to utilize this desire to create while also sharing my story in a way that can hopefully help others. My content focuses on realistic health and wellness without obsession. I post daily on social media, highlighting the importance of body neutrality and the dangers of diet culture.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There are so many barriers when it comes to creating content, a majority of which are self imposed. One of the most challenging parts of it all is simply getting yourself to do it. There is so much vulnerability to putting yourself online and just ripping off the bandaid is the first step. People fear that social media is over saturated by I truly believe that we all have a unique story and unique perspective that the world could benefit from. It has definitely been a slow and steady growth and taken so much time and effort but every hour spend recording, editing, planning content for 3 different platforms is worth it.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I create lifestyle content that focuses on health, fitness and wellness without obsession. My battle with an eating disorder for most of my young adult life was fueled by toxic online content. I want to create a space where people can learn about fitness in a way that is not all about aesthetics or based on restriction while also believing having goals in the gym is normal and healthy. I believe that this perspective is really challenging to find online and I want to be that person for people who are experiencing what I went through. I want my platform to be a place where food lies are debunked, diet culture is called out, and people can feel understood one their journey with food and their bodies.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Vulnerability, honesty and perseverance. There are so many ebs and flows when it comes to content creation but remembering the WHY behind the content makes the ebs worth it!
