Check Out Perplexity ’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Perplexity.

Hi Perplexity, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I started acting in plays at a young age and continued through high school where I found a love for film and TV. I can be too creative for my own good at times, so when I graduated college I didn’t have many extracurricular activities to express myself. This is when Drag came into my life. I fell in love with it almost instantly. I started doing my research (watching YouTube videos) to learn how to do my makeup. Once I felt like I was at a good starting place I ran to thrift stores, bought a sewing machine and started to make my own costumes. I went to a local open stage night and the rush of adrenaline that I felt after my first performance was incredible and in that moment I knew I was hooked. I am thankful for that night because it has since sparked my career of being a Drag Queen.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t been the smoothest road. Drag is not is not cheap. It takes a lot of time, energy and money to develop yourself as an entertainer. There is so much that goes into it; the under garments, the body, makeup, hair, costumes, jewelry, nails, etc. in order to ‘complete the look,’ However, even though this is an obstacle it is one that I constantly am trying to overcome.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My tagline is, “The Illusion of Confusion” which I think is perfect for Perplexity. I feel that I don’t need to pigeon toe myself into one category or become one specific type of entertainer. When I first started drag, I was heavily inspired by the abstract brain of Tim Burton. I have since elaborated on this obsession to create my own abstract world of thinking where I can pull references from different decades or fashion movements. Although my sewing skills still have a ways to go, I do take pride in the props that I make. Typically, anytime I have a prop on stage, whether it be a poison apple for the Evil Queen or a Pip-Boy for my Fallout character – I have made myself. I continue to push myself and see what I can do next.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
