Check Out Ryan Jay’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Jay.

Hi Ryan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I grew up listening to country music as a kid. I grew up hearing my dad listen to George Strait, Johnny Cash, Waylon, George Jones, etc.

So it’s in my blood but at the age of 16 I started playing heavy metal and by the time I was 18 I started touring in a metal/hardcore band called Strength N Honor all through Canada, the midwest, and the east coast. I did that for about 4 years and it wasn’t until I was 22 yrs old that my country roots came back and I started playing country music. But in 2012 I was recording my country music and starting to play shows.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Absolutely not a smooth road at all rarely. Music is one of the toughest businesses to get into and can be hard and cutthroat at times. I am always trying to beat out the next artist with my creativity and performance.

Always trying to battle get that opening spot for that national coming to town and sometimes you always don’t get that spot. Trying to be an independent artist is very difficult at times because there is always someone else higher up trying to beat you out or beating you out so in return you got to push and fight harder and harder.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am known for my country music now. I am very proud of the fact that recently I had Jenee Fleenor who is also Blake Shelton’s fiddle player and CMA musician of the year 4 years in a row now fiddle on two of my tracks “Hard Time” and “High Road” off my “Plymouth Rock Sessions EP”.

What sets me apart now is probably the fact that I am mixing a lot of heavy rock and a little metal to my country now and that is starting with my new single “Until The Wheels Fall Off” that’s dropping on 11/30!

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Nope. Just my own mental focus and preparation.
