Today we’d like to introduce you to Sadie Cannon.
Hi Sadie, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I grew up in Ocala, Florida, and always knew that music was the thing I couldn’t live without. After moving to Nashville by way of Los Angeles, I began building my career as an independent artist, songwriter, and producer, blending pop music with Southern influences to create what I like to call “dance-pop with twang.”
Like many independent artists, my path hasn’t been linear. Alongside writing and releasing music, I’ve balanced day jobs, learned the business side of the industry, and worn every hat imaginable—from marketing and PR to creative direction and production. Every challenge has pushed me to become more resourceful and more confident in the artist I’m becoming.
My music is rooted in confidence, reinvention, and creating moments that make people feel unstoppable. My latest single, “WHO IS SHE?,” explores the feeling of rediscovering yourself after heartbreak and stepping into your next chapter. The song was recently featured on Apple Music’s editorial playlist, New in Pop, marking an exciting milestone in my journey as an independent artist.
Today, I’m based in Nashville and continuing to build my career independently, creating music that soundtracks girls’ nights out, packed dance floors, and the moments when people choose themselves and dare to dream a little bigger.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many independent artists, I’ve had to wear multiple hats, balancing songwriting and recording with everything from marketing and PR to creative direction and production. Building a team you can trust is another challenge. Finding reliable collaborators who genuinely believe in the vision can take years.
Rejection is also an unavoidable part of the process. Whether it’s missed opportunities, unanswered emails, or moments when things don’t go according to plan, pursuing music requires a lot of resilience and self-belief.
One of the biggest struggles, though, has been finding the right side hustle: work that pays the bills while still offering the flexibility that a music career demands. Touring, writing sessions, and last-minute opportunities rarely fit into a traditional schedule, so striking that balance has been incredibly important.
Above all, I’ve learned that protecting your mental health is essential. Chasing a creative dream comes with highs and lows, and learning how to stay grounded through both has been one of the most valuable lessons of my journey so far.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an independent pop artist, songwriter, and producer based in Nashville, Tennessee. My music blends infectious pop melodies with Southern influences to create what I like to call “dance-pop with twang,” music that feels equally at home on the dance floor and on a road trip with the windows down.
At the heart of my project is a mission to create empowering music that celebrates confidence, reinvention, and the moments when people choose themselves. My songs are inspired by heartbreak, friendship, and the process of becoming the person you’re meant to be. Whether someone is getting ready for a girls’ night out, driving through their hometown, or stepping into a new chapter of life, I want my music to soundtrack those experiences.
As an independent artist, I’ve built much of this project from the ground up. Beyond writing and recording, I’m deeply involved in the creative and business sides of my career, from marketing and branding to content creation and release strategy. I’m most proud of the community that has grown around my music and of recent milestones like having my latest single, “WHO IS SHE?,” featured on Apple Music’s editorial playlist, New in Pop.
What sets me apart is the combination of pop, Southern storytelling, and hands-on artistry that shapes everything I do. I don’t just create songs, I create worlds and experiences that invite people to celebrate themselves, dream bigger, and embrace their most confident selves.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I’ve been incredibly fortunate to have an amazing team behind me. Adam Sickler has been my mix and mastering engineer for the past five years and has helped shape my sound, while producer Chandler Eggleston and songwriter Kacy Moon have been instrumental in bringing my recent music to life, including “WHO IS SHE?” I’m also grateful to Symphonic and my representative, Adam White, for consistently championing my releases. My manager and best friend, Dee Purnell, has been an unwavering advocate whose belief in both me and the project has made all the difference. And, of course, a huge thank-you goes to my core band members, Peter Luther and Brian Kempson, for rocking with me every step of the way.
