Today we’d like to introduce you to Samantha West
Hi Samantha, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
It started when my partner and co-author, Nathan, were sixteen and in our junior year of high school. I’d dreamt of becoming an author for years at that point. I got the idea to ask Nathan to create an MMC (male main character.) His name, appearance, his mannerisms, attitude, backstory – all of it. Nathan delivered, and I fell in love with his character, Richter, and I created an FMC (female main character) and named her Maneia. We started weaving this fantastical tale of magic and darkness…and then dropped the project. For years. It wasn’t until about early 2020 that we picked it back up, and we completed our very first novel in 2021. By then, we had honed our writing style, world building ideas, and character development with other projects. I am so lucky to have such an amazing, supportive partner that shares my passion, creativity, and love for storytelling.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It certainly hasn’t been easy. My biggest struggle would be staying focused on one project at a time. I’m easily distracted by new ideas and often find myself hopping between projects, but finishing none of them. I do my best to manage that issue by taking advice from other authors; however, sometimes a new shiny idea is just a bit too tempting. It’s something we’re still managing.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
Nathan and I both work in management for the same company, but in different departments and at different locations. We work with truly amazing people that have helped us strive in both our careers and our personal lives. Nathan’s specialty is sales, and mine is accounts. We’re often the top performers in our regions when compared to others in our area, and we’re so very grateful for all our career has provided us – such as our very first apartment. We’ve grown exponentially in the last few years.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
Word of mouth is the biggest support a creative or an artist can get. Interacting with our socials and talking to others that may enjoy what we’ve worked so hard for years to create would do wonders. It keep us engaged and motivated to keep pursuing our passion – something that can be quite difficult to maintain ourselves.
