Check Out Sarah Moseley’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Moseley.

Hi Sarah, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
After the devastation of 2020, I wanted to help my local creative community here in Nashville. In November of 2020, I began to look for ways that I myself could make extra money on the side as a songwriter. I wanted to create custom songs for my family and friends as a side business, but then quickly realized that I could turn this into a company myself and help other songwriters like me and provide them with another layer of financial income through custom songs. We wanted to help the local songwriting community in Nashville. In April of 2021, we launched Songbird City with 9 talented Nashville songwriters. We are Nashville’s first and only custom song company. Our mission is to be a local company with local songwriters and impact our beloved Music City by providing songwriters another way to make money. We are also committed to donating 10% of our proceeds to a direct relief fund for songwriters. We provide our customers with a way to not only have a custom song for a lifetime but also be a part of helping our songwriters here in Nashville.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
When we were creating Songbird City, everything developed very naturally and organically because it’s easy to be passionate about. One obstacle is that we have worked hard to create an awareness in the local and national community that custom songs are available and getting people to think of a custom song as a gift idea! Educating people that this is a special gift for a lifetime that is available to them. We also know other custom song companies that have a similar platform but our special niche is that we are a Nashville-based company with local Nashville songwriters. We love where we live and we know people come here to experience the music of Nashville so why not have one write a custom song for you? We are Music City and we think that’s pretty special. Through our challenges, we have stayed committed to helping others and believing in the potential that we know Songbird City possesses.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I graduated from Belmont University in Nashville, TN in 2017 for Music Business and absolutely loved my time there. It allowed me to be in Nashville and experience the music industry first hand and learn so much. I have always been a singer/songwriter myself and have been writing for over 15 years and released numerous albums and singles. I am a pop artist here in Nashville and go by the name of ‘Jovvi’. Recently, I have specialized in writing for TV/Film which I have loved! I have had many placements on TV and that has been a huge accomplishment for me. It took me a few years before I ever heard my music on TV and it was worth the wait! There is nothing more special than hearing a work you created on TV and seeing hard work pay off. I have always loved helping others and that is why I have enjoyed creating Songbird City. I think it’s important sometimes to take the focus off of ourselves and what we want and place the focus on others and how we can help each other.

What matters most to you? Why?
People mean the most to me. Relationships. Community. Having good people around me that inspire and encourage me. That’s what it’s all about! Having wonderful people in my life is what drives me and keeps me going when I am pursuing something new! Friends that cheer me on and motivate me with their dreams and goals. I don’t ever want to live a life that’s all about me. I want to have dreams and goals that include everyone and be surrounded by incredible people!
