Check Out Sean Kaye’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sean Kaye.

Hi Sean, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Sean: For me, it all began when I was a young child. My mother attended school at full sail when they first commenced, and I recall driving my father to work in our Toyota hatchback. She would ask me to identify the various instruments in the songs on the radio. From then on, I acquired my first guitar and drum set, listened to diverse genres of music, and essentially underwent training and grooming from a tender age. Fast forward to when I obtained a guitar and decided to learn how to play it. I sat in front of my computer, using Windows 98, and discovered tabs, which enabled me to teach myself how to play the guitar. Subsequently, I honed my skills by participating in several metal bands, transitioning to solo performances, and eventually helping form the band Sound Mind.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Sound Mind: We wouldn’t necessarily describe my journey as smooth, nor was it entirely rocky, but rather somewhere in between. When starting out, none of us truly know what we’re doing. We simply want to perform on stage, but as you mature as an artist, you become more aware of the business aspect, which is a whole new entity to learn. One thing people may not realize is that being in a band with multiple members is not just about the music; it’s a relationship. For instance, in five member acts, everyone must understand and work together towards a common goal. Not everyone will always agree, and disagreements can arise, but if you can work past those issues, it can make the journey significantly smoother. We’ve had my share of setbacks, including being kicked out of bands and declining offers that may have been mistakes. However, we’re uncertain if we would alter any part of our journey thus far, as we’re not sure if we would possess the knowledge we have today.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
Sean: As a singer-songwriter, I’ve evolved from showcasing exceptional guitar-playing abilities to crafting meaningful music that resonates with others. I’m humbled by the recognition, but I’m most proud of creating music that uplifts and inspires. We strive to stay grounded, avoiding an ego-driven mindset that can lead to downfall.

So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
Sound Mind: Attending our shows is the most impactful way to support this band, as it allows you to connect with the artists, foster a sense of community, and boost the local music scene, ultimately benefiting venues and artists alike. Alternatively, engaging with the band on social media by liking, commenting, and sharing their content is a powerful way to demonstrate your enthusiasm and appreciation for their work, while also staying informed about their latest updates. By showing your support, you can help create a ripple effect that inspires positive change and fuels the band’s creative journey.
