Check Out Sean Noel’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sean Noel.

Hi Sean Noel, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’ve been a musician since the age of 5 singing at church, thereafter joining the school jazz and orchestra bands, and finally studying music theory later under the tutelage of Edward Wolfe. My family is from the Dominican Republic and also had a huge influence on my music upbringing with weekly jam sessions, dancing, and playing instruments. I became a DJ in my late teens in the Los Angeles, Orange County and Riverside areas of California performing at multiple clubs. I also performed as a bassist for a jazz trio, and was lead singer and solo trombonist for a Latin jazz/salsa orchestra that performed in dance clubs throughout Southern California. I moved to New York for 5 years and took quite a bit of a performing and musical hiatus. It wasn’t until 2022, when I met Aura Ray, a talented non-performing and raw singer, that I returned to my true passion of performing and writing music. Since then, I became a music coach, singer/songwriter, producer, and owner of NNtertainment LLC where I work with a handful of artists across numerous media platforms. Aura Ray is now a highly sought after artist, is co-writer and co-producer of many of our songs, and still remains the strongest inspiration for my return to my life’s passion of artistry and music.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
As a young artist, chasing a dream is often met with the reality of financial needs. Some artists take on conventional jobs to help fuel their music passion. I was one of those artists. I became good at my “day job”, received multiple promotions, and slowly focused more and more of my time in corporate America. I no longer had much time to be a struggling artist. The move to New York severed my connection to my musician friends and contacts even further. Upon returning to music, I felt and sounded extremely rusty and did not have the confidence needed to proceed.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
What sets me apart is my unique blend of experiences in both performing and production, combined with a deep cultural background that informs my artistry. I take pride in my ability to mentor and support emerging artists while creating music that resonates with audiences. I am proud of my ear and energy that reaches into a very wide musical genre spectrum, pulling the best cues from each and plugging them into new music I create. I am particularly proud of coaching the growth and success I’ve seen artists achieve. Ultimately, my mission is to foster creativity and collaboration in the music industry while staying true to my roots and passion for artistry.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Don’t be afraid to ask and have conversations with multiple artists or people in the game. You’ll be surprised at how willing they are to pass on valuable information that can ultimately help you improve and succeed. When a musician or band takes a break, approach them and ask a quick question, or DM them after with a compliment and sneak in a request for advice. Not only will you be surprised by some of their responses, but you might make some good connections along the way. Also, don’t forget to thank those folks providing the venue space or opening their doors for our business of music.
