Check Out Sumit Bhatt’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sumit Bhatt

Hi Sumit, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am a self-taught photographer and IT professional. Growing up in the picturesque village of Majirkanda, Uttarakhand, India, nestled in the Himalayas, I developed a deep appreciation for nature. However, at the time, I had no access to photography resources or knowledge. In 2019, I moved to Nashville, Tennessee, where a fall trip to the Smoky Mountains sparked a strong connection to the landscape, reminding me of my village. This experience inspired me to explore the Smokies and the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina every weekend, hiking, camping, and immersing myself in nature.

After months of saving, I bought a used camera and began learning photography through YouTube. Balancing my career as an IT professional, I dedicated my weekdays to work, spent my nights learning photography, and used weekends to practice in the mountains. Though the pandemic hit soon after, I continued to focus on refining my skills during the downtime.

Photography is all about noticing the small details and capturing fleeting moments when the conditions align perfectly. Landscape photography, in particular, taught me that, despite meticulous planning, nature is unpredictable. The perfect shot doesn’t always materialize, but that’s part of the journey. It’s about embracing the process rather than chasing perfect results.

During the pandemic, while worrying about my family back home and the global situation, I met the love of my life. Her unwavering support and motivation helped fuel my passion for photography. Over time, my skills improved, and by 2025, I was married, a proud parent, and still embarking on weekend adventures with my family.

After the birth of our child, I developed an interest in portrait photography, further expanding my creative horizons. My photography continues to improve, and I strive to better my craft every day. Along the way, I’ve had the privilege of mentoring aspiring photographers, helping them grow their skills and navigate their own photographic journeys.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The journey has been filled with challenges, but I’ve loved every moment of it. One of the first struggles I faced was the cost of photography gear. A high-quality camera, lenses, and other equipment can be very expensive, and I had to save for a long time before I could make my first purchase. However, this taught me that having the best gear right away isn’t necessary. You can start with something as simple as a smartphone to learn the basics, and over time, gradually build your gear collection.

Being a self-taught photographer, I found another challenge in the overwhelming amount of online resources. While YouTube is a great tool, it can be difficult to find the right tutorials to follow, and some can even lead you off track from your goals.

The biggest challenge, however, was the pandemic. It was both a blessing and a curse. On one hand, it gave me the time to focus on learning and improving my skills. On the other hand, I had just moved to the U.S. and didn’t have many friends yet. Being isolated during that time was difficult, and I found myself working long hours with little social interaction, which sometimes left me feeling alone. Thankfully, during this time, I met the love of my life, and that changed everything. Her support and companionship became a turning point in my journey.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As a Solution Architect working in the healthcare industry, my primary role is to design and implement technology solutions that meet the complex needs of healthcare organizations. I specialize in creating scalable, efficient, and secure systems that improve patient care, streamline workflows, and ensure compliance with industry regulations. My expertise lies in understanding both the technical and business aspects of healthcare, allowing me to bridge the gap between IT and the healthcare providers who rely on these systems.

What sets me apart in my profession is my ability to take a holistic approach to problem-solving. I look at the bigger picture, considering not just the immediate technical requirements but also how a solution will impact the organization, staff, and patients in the long term. I’m also known for my adaptability and creative thinking, often finding innovative ways to solve problems while keeping patient privacy and data security at the forefront.

One of the things I’m most proud of in my career is the impact I’ve had on improving healthcare delivery through technology. Being able to contribute to projects that directly affect patient care and the efficiency of healthcare providers gives me a deep sense of fulfillment. I’m also proud of the collaborative environment I foster, working with cross-functional teams to develop solutions that meet diverse needs.

What sets me apart from others is my dual passion for technology and improving lives. I’m not just focused on delivering a solution—I aim to create systems that make a difference and truly improve how people experience healthcare.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
While I’m not much of a reader, I’ve always found the most valuable resources to be the teachings and wisdom passed down by my family. Growing up in a small village, my family instilled in me the importance of hard work, resilience, and staying grounded in values. These principles guide me in both my professional and personal life, helping me navigate challenges with a calm and focused mindset.

In addition to family guidance, I often turn to practical, hands-on learning. For my work as a Photographer, I rely heavily on online courses, forums, and communities to stay updated on industry trends and best practices.

For personal growth and mental clarity, I follow yoga and meditation taught at Isha Institute of Inner-sciences , McMinnville, Tennessee. I also listen to podcasts and YouTube channels that focus on self-improvement, leadership, and mindfulness. Podcasts like The Tim Ferriss Show and The Tony Robbins Podcast are great sources of inspiration, offering interviews with high achievers from various fields.

Ultimately, I believe that combining the wisdom I’ve learned from my family with the ongoing learning from both digital and personal experiences is what helps me excel in life.
