Today we’d like to introduce you to Sydney Paige.
Sydney, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I graduated from college and backpacked through Australia and ended up doing an internship at Disney. When that was over I decided that I wanted to make being a musician my full time job! So I moved to Nashville about 3 years ago (minus covid time) and have been playing downtown and working on original music ever since. I also was able to help create and establish a duo that I’m currently in with Emma Hanlon.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Things for me, fortunately, have been pretty smooth overall. However, when I got to town I was working with a group of people that unfortunately had a different viewpoint than me. People felt the need to tell me how they think I should look, and weigh. Which was something that caught me off guard. I was also diagnosed with diabetes about 3 years ago. So being told to lose weight by a none medical professional as a diabetic through the means of a “fast fashion diet” was definitely an eye-opener.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Currently, I play downtown at a few bars and it’s a lot of fun. As well as, I run a duo with the help of my bandmate. We do some work on social media. Which we are working to make better and better. We’re also in the process of creating some more original music to release, so keep an eye out for that! Lately, personally, I’ve been working on playing more lead guitar, which has been a super fun and rewarding experience.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was always outside and kept to myself but I did show choir and musical theatre. My mom’s always said I was constantly singing to myself as a kid and she would always say, “I Don’t know where she is but I bet it’s a happy place!”
