Today we’d like to introduce you to Ashley Gearing and Andrea Young.
Hi Ashley and Andrea, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
We’ve both been in Nashville long enough to call it home.
Music brought us here – Ashley had a couple of different solo record deals and some successful singles on the charts- at one point she was the youngest charting female country artist! Andrea started out touring with several country artists playing fiddle and singing backgrounds… which led her to sign a record deal as part of her own band.
We met while touring internationally with an all-female group called Farewell Angelina… it was obvious from the start that the two of us had similar musical tastes and really complimented each other’s performance and writing strengths. Most of all, we like to make everything full of good vibes and fun.
Whether it’s on stage, traveling, or doing the usual, “hurry up and wait” that all of us musicians are used to, haha! We were so energized and excited by what the other brought to the table… that it eventually led us to start The Wildcards!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
So far, so good! Ha! Although we are a relatively new band (having formed in 2021) we have been in the trenches for each other since the day we played our first show about 4 years ago.
If there is one thing we know, it’s that we have each other’s backs through anything, so we aren’t afraid of challenges.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a country/Americana duo led by Ashley’s powerhouse vocals and rhythmic acoustic guitar alongside Andrea’s fiery fiddling and angelic harmonies.
We are most proud of bringing good vibes and big energy to every show we play. At the end of the day, it is all about the people who came to escape the grind and have a good time. Our number one priority is making sure that a “good time” is had by all! We are grateful that people trust us to turn a concert into a party!
We have a special new single coming out June 3rd called, “Can’t Help Who You Love.” It is the 4th installment of our “Bar Room Sessions” collection (that also includes: Pour The Wine, Light On, and Drink 2) that you can find anywhere you stream music.
This is the first song that we have produced together – Ashley played some gorgeous acoustic guitar Andrea did all the engineering and arranged/played all of the string parts!
Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
Good luck has definitely done some shinin’ on us. We are having the time of our lives and it is crazy to think of how lucky we are to have the chance to make music together in The Wildcards!
