Hi Unfound Radio, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Unfound Radio was founded by Nashville-based DJ/producer Alexion and airs every other Friday at 5:00 PM EST / 10:00 PM GMT on 1MixRadio. Each episode features a guest mix and interview with an up-and-coming DJ, giving emerging artists a platform to share both their music and their story. Beyond the radio show, Unfound Radio hosts events that spotlight underground talent and bring local dance music communities together.
Unfound Radio was built to showcase the “unfound” side of dance music. In a scene that’s often driven by streaming numbers and social media, we care more about great music than how many followers someone has.
Rather than playing Beatport Top 100 tracks, our mission is to introduce listeners to fresh, unconventional sounds they might not discover anywhere else. We believe the best music is often found beyond the mainstream market. Over the years, we’ve worked with artists and local communities from Nashville to Berlin and even to Sydney. Our goal is to connect DJs and producers across different cities, helping them build relationships and grow together.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We’ve faced our share of challenges, especially when it came to launching our events. It was something completely new for us, and the goal was to partner with local promoters while creating a bill that featured DJs who had previously appeared on the show. On paper, it seemed like the right extension of what we were already doing, however, we quickly realized there was far more involved than we had anticipated. From coordinating with venues and promoters to marketing, logistics, and making sure people actually showed up, every event required a significant amount of planning and execution behind the scenes. It was a steep learning curve, but those experiences taught us what it really takes to build successful events and helped us improve with each one. Now, we’re already working on expanding into more cities, including Atlanta, Detroit, and St. Louis.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
One thing that we specialize in that sets us apart from others is our partnership with The Vault, which is now the recording home of Unfound Radio. The studio allows emerging artists to share their story with our global audience on high-quality, state-of-the-art DJ equipment.
The idea behind the partnership was simple: great artists thrive when they’re given the right community, support, and opportunity to be discovered. We believe the mainstream doesn’t define the future of dance music—it’s shaped by the artists who haven’t been found yet. That’s why we’ve built a platform that not only showcases their music but also gives them a professional environment to create, perform, and connect with listeners around the world. It’s a unique approach that reflects what we’ve stood for since day one.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
We’ve never been interested in follower counts, the number of streams, or social media metrics. What matters to us is talent, originality, and potential. Some of the most exciting artists in dance music haven’t had their breakthrough yet. They’re still playing local clubs, releasing music independently, and building their sound away from the spotlight.
We believe the vast majority of raw talent exists in the underground scene. That’s where new ideas are born, where artists take creative risks, and where the future of dance music is shaped. Those are the artists we want to champion. If they’re the ones pushing the culture forward, they deserve a platform to be heard. That’s exactly why Unfound Radio exists: to allow emerging artists to shine before the rest of the world catches on, and to give locals in one city the opportunity to network with locals in other cities across the world.
