We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has not been smooth. I started my business after becoming unemployed and returned to being a Real Estate Signing Agent using my notary public license. I quickly determined I needed to diversify my services and have been a secret shopper, real estate inspector and in 2016 jumped into the wedding officiant business.

Since adding the officiant services to my portfolio my business grew and became a stable income producing business. It is the best job in the world, because I am with couples on their happiest day and I have the honor of sharing in their joy along with the celebration. I have made new friends along the way.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
At this point in my journey I focus on my wedding officiant services and helping others who want to become successful in the business. I still provide my notary services to the general public. I am well known throughout middle Tennessee for providing my wedding officiant services and by a large population that live in the county I reside.

I am most proud of the raving reviews on my Google Business Profile and the referrals from many that I have provided my services because of the personal touch I provide to each and every person that I assist. That is what sets me apart from others because we may have just met but I will make you feel like a long lost friend with a southern welcoming spirit.

I wrote a book “How to Create a Successful Wedding Officiant Business.” and have sold about 180 copies since releasing it in pdf format. Cost $20 and purchased directly from me. I have trained some very successful wedding officiants which gives me so much joy to watch their journey.

Currently I am joining Cardinal Property Company that my dear friend, Victoria Griffith, is starting up. Before starting Weddings by Valise and Notary Services I was a commercial property manager for a decade and had a real estate license in Tennessee and North Carolina. I will be helping Victoria grow and be successful in real estate market. She watched me grow my business and that encourage her to step out on her own. So I am excited for this new adventure.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I Love About Nashville

Nashville is full of beautiful venues, historic homes, barns, rooftops, and scenic parks — perfect for ceremonies and elopements. The city’s blend of Southern charm and modern elegance makes it ideal for love stories. I have married many couples from out of state and even from other countries, i.e. Graz, Austria and Canada.

Even with its growth, there’s still that warm, welcoming energy. People smile, say hello, and genuinely celebrate life’s big moments.

From iconic spots like Grand Ole Opry and Ryman to the lively atmosphere of Broadway, music is everywhere. It gives the city personality and life.

Local restaurants, coffee shops, and hidden gems make great date-night spots for couples you marry — and for you to unwind after a ceremony. Nashville has become a foodie city and the options are endless.

Tennessee sunsets, fall colors, and spring blooms make outdoor stunning. I have officiated many outdoor weddings and elopements. One of my favorite Nashville park is Centennial. I have even officiated in a cave, The Ruskin.

What I Dislike

What used to be a quick drive across town can now take much longer — especially if you’re traveling to ceremonies because I hate being late.

Historic charm sometimes gets replaced with high-rises and luxury builds that don’t always reflect old Nashville character. I loved the look of Nashville when I moved here in 1997 and that look is gone. It is still a great area because I live in the rural part of middle Tennessee.

Downtown can feel overwhelming, especially during peak seasons or big events. So I absolutely avoid it at all cost.
