Today we’d like to introduce you to Van Isaacson.
Hi Van, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
Grew up in Northern Wisconsin before heading to Chicago to study music. My main focus at the time was violin but I was gigging around the city as a drummer, guitarist, and keys player as well. Throughout my time in Chi-Town I would make frequent trips to Nashville to work on music with Allison Mahal – an indie rock/pop artist. After 6 years in Chicago, I finally made the move to Nashville.
During the pandemic, I started to set up a home studio in the new place. It was something I’d been wanting to do for a long time and I just never allowed myself to take that leap. I started out with my solo EP, a couple of Allison’s tunes, and a few Leah Jean (an amazing singer-songwriter, and my girlfriend) tunes to get things off the ground. I was starting to feel like I finally found my passion and realized that the art of bringing stories to life and guiding them through their creation is one of my favorite things in the world.
From there I started getting clients outside of my friend group – something I wasn’t really expecting, After a few months, Sam Roller approached me about joining forces and starting a production studio together. He had worked with a bunch of Nashville folks in the indie scene as well as one of Allison’s tunes (Mustangs – still one of my favorites to this day). We clicked right away and soon Lovegrove Studios was born. Today we operate in both Nashville and NYC.
This past year has been one of the most important for me thus far. I went from feeling lost and confused to having an amazing community and feeling like I know my place in it. I also learned that you absolutely can’t plan your journey. Mine has been better than I could have ever asked for so far.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t always been smooth. The pandemic really slammed the brakes on all of my previous prospects but that’s the same story for everyone. Though finances are always a struggle, I’m so thankful that artists keep wanting to work with us and we’re able to grow consistently. Art as a career is a dance between struggle and success.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Lovegrove Studios is a music production studio. We pride ourselves in bringing artists’ stories to life and creating a comfortable space to create in. We do full-scale productions and live acoustic sessions. Located in Nashville and NYC – run by Van Isaacson (me!) and Sam Roller
What are your plans for the future?
My personal plans for the future are to continue touring with and producing for Allison Mahal as well as continuing to grow the studio. We’re in year one and already extremely busy so I want to see how far we can take this thing.

Hi Van,
Good reading about your music endeavors, and learning that you’re working creating music. As a lifelong visual artist/craftsman, I can testify to the “struggle/success dance”. Sometimes it’s really been easy and fun and sometimes less so, but I love the creative process. I’m still working at it. It’s good that you’re settled in a big time music town. One of my problems was that I moved around so much and had to re-establish myself in each new locale. Good luck in your ventures in 2022. As you’ve grown older, you’re looking more like your Dad (which is a good thing).
