Check Out Victoria Morris’s Story

Today we’d like to introduce you to Victoria Morris.

Hi Victoria, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I live on four acres in Ashland City, Tennessee. It may not seem like much to some people, but to our family, it’s everything. We have poured our hearts, time, and resources into turning our small piece of land into something meaningful.

A few years ago, I fell in love with raising chickens. What started as a simple hobby quickly grew into something much bigger than I ever imagined. Today, Four Acres Farm is home to a variety of chickens, and I enjoy helping others get started by selling chicks, hatching eggs for customers, and sharing what I’ve learned along the way.

As the farm grew, so did the idea of opening a self-serve farm stand. What began as a small way to share our farm-fresh eggs with the community has evolved into a busy little destination where people can find eggs, homemade baked goods, jams, jellies, flowers, seasonal items, and other products made right here on our farm.

One of the most rewarding parts of this journey has been connecting with people in our community. I’m also very proud that my husband and I built our farm stand and our chicken coop ourselves (he gets more credit than I do though, lol).

Four Acres Farm has become more than just a farm, it has become a place where neighbors support neighbors, where customers become friends, and where we can share a little piece of our life with others. I’m incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received and excited to see what the future holds.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, more like a roller coaster. One of the biggest obstacles has been balancing farm life, running a farm stand, operating another small business, working a full-time corporate career, and still making time for family. There never seem to be enough hours in the day. Our little homestead also teaches you very quickly that not everything is within your control. Whether it’s weather, rising costs, or caring for animals, you learn to adapt and keep moving forward.
Despite the challenges, every obstacle has taught me something valuable. The difficult days make the successes even more rewarding. Seeing customers return week after week, watching the farm stand grow, and knowing that people appreciate what we produce makes all the hard work worthwhile. Looking back, I wouldn’t call it a smooth road, but I would absolutely call it a rewarding one.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Four Acres Farm has become known around our community as “the house with all the chickens and the big farm stand,” which always makes me smile because it started with just a simple love for raising chickens and collecting fresh eggs. Over time, that passion has grown into something much bigger than I ever imagined.

Today, I specialize in farm-fresh eggs, hatching chicks, homemade baked goods, flowers, and a variety of items in our self-serve farm stand. One thing I’m especially known for is my banana bread, which earned a First Place Blue Ribbon at our county fair—an accomplishment I’m incredibly proud of.
Another product I’m also best known for is my homemade dirt cover scent for deer hunters. It’s become a favorite among local hunters, and I’m fortunate to have many loyal, repeat customers who order it in advance to make sure they stay stocked up throughout the hunting season. Knowing that people trust and rely on a product I’ve created is something I’m especially proud of.
More than anything, I’m proud of how Four Acres Farm has grown through hard work, dedication, and the support of our community. What started as a small dream on four acres has become a place that people recognize, visit regularly, and genuinely support. Seeing neighbors stop by the farm stand, purchase products we’ve worked hard to create, and become repeat customers is something I never take for granted. It’s rewarding to know that our little farm has become a meaningful part of the community we call home.

I also care for over 100 chickens daily which includes coop cleaning, incubator monitoring, brooder cleaning, transitioning chickens to other areas after they’ve grown, making sure the chickens are dewormed, given vitamins, supplements, and more.

I’m also very proud that nearly everything in our farm stand is made by me and has a lot to offer. The farm stand includes things such as: handmade wooden risers, jams/jellies, salsa, barbecue sauce, pasta sauce, lip balms, magnesium spray, linen/room sprays, fragrance rollers, concrete planter bowls, hand carved wood items, flower arrangements, and more! Our farm stand is also based on a honor system and most people are genuinely honest and luckily, we haven’t had any problems with theft.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I haven’t used any specific books, apps, or podcasts to guide me. Most of what I’ve learned has come from experience, research, and a lot of trial and error. I do follow other farms, farm stands, and small businesses on social media, and I enjoy learning from them while also supporting what they do. The farming and chicken community is full of hardworking people who are always willing to share ideas and encouragement.
