Today we’d like to introduce you to Yassie Official.
Hi Yassie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I began singing in the choir with my late mother at the age of 8 . I began writing poetry at the age of 13 ( following my mother’s passing). Poetry writing was a way of expressing myself and emotions which later led to my songwriting.
I recorded and released my first song in 2013 and have been writing and recording music since then .
My music is all about expressing my emotions , relatable topics , healing from different life experiences and exploring different genres .
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a journey with many experiences , many amazing moments but there have also been challenges along the way .
I’m a mother of one ( my son is 6 years old and has autism ) so I did end up taking a couple of years off to focus on being a mother .
It was alittle difficult to come back on the scene after taking a break and finding opportunities to showcase my talents . But I still managed to find a way , and it’s been smooth sailing ever since .
It took some time to find balance between working a day job , being a full time mom , and pursuing my music career .
However I will continue believe in myself , my talents and I just remind myself that no matter how long it takes I will reach and accomplish my goals !
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a singer songwriter, I specialize in R&B / Pop and Afro music . I’m most proud of my many accomplishments and overall growth throughout my career . Being able to share my experiences through music , but also doing what I love to do has been most rewarding. Music is what I was born to do . I’m always elevating within my craft and willing to explore new genres as an artist .
What are your plans for the future?
I’m looking forward to touring with some major artists , winning many more awards , more sync licensing placements in ( movies and films ) , exploring acting opportunities/ reality tv , continuing to climb the charts with my records , but most of all I’m looking forward to connecting more with my fan base , and the amazing success to come on my journey of being the next big R&B / Pop Star !
