We’re looking forward to introducing you to Colleen Lippert. Check out our conversation below.
Good morning Colleen , it’s such a great way to kick off the day – I think our readers will love hearing your stories, experiences and about how you think about life and work. Let’s jump right in? What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I’ve really gotten into watching trials on CourtTV. It may sound a little unconventional, but I find them almost like real-life soap operas. I get invested in the details and enjoy watching how everything unfolds. At the end of the day, I love curling up with a blanket and tuning in. It’s become a fun form of self-care for me.
Over the summer, I followed the Karen Read case very closely and right now I’m watching the Donna Adelson trial. I’ve always had an interest in law and true crime and I think my strong sense of justice is what draws me to these cases.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi! I’m Colleen Lippert and I own Anchor Publicity in Nashville, TN. I opened my PR firm almost 10 years ago and I’ve been working in the entertainment industry for nearly 15. My job is to help artists, performers, authors, and other creatives tell their stories, connect with their audiences, and get their work out into the world. I help book TV appearances, set up interviews and public appearances, assist with social media, run meet-and-greets, manage schedules, and keep everything organized. A lot of my work happens behind the scenes, including research and strategic planning, all with the goal of providing the best guidance I can for my clients throughout their careers.
I feel incredibly grateful to work with so many people who have such big hearts. That’s one of the things that makes my company so special. I also believe giving back to the community is an essential part of this business. It’s easy to get caught up in the materialistic side of red carpets and after-parties, but I try to prioritize charitable events with my clients as much as possible. Whether it’s hosting benefit concerts, visiting hospitals, donating goods, or supporting amazing organizations in other various ways, my clients are always most excited about volunteering. Remaining grounded and humble is so important and I never take for granted how lucky we are to do what we love.
Thanks for sharing that. Would love to go back in time and hear about how your past might have impacted who you are today. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
Wow, this is a tough question. I think growing up in New York and witnessing 9/11 firsthand really impacted my perception of the world, both positively and negatively. I was 10 years old in 2001, so it was hard to fully understand what was happening at the time. Fortunately, what stood out to me the most was how such a tragic event brought everyone closer together. In that moment, none of us were strangers. We all helped each other however we could. Even though it was such a scary time, I remember feeling a sense of peace. I wish we could all learn from that and work together to help make the world a better place.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I would reassure myself that everything is going to be fine and encourage her to appreciate the journey… because we get to do some really cool stuff! Things may feel uncertain or overwhelming at times, but every experience, good or bad, shapes who we become. I’d tell her to believe in herself, stay true to her values, and know that it’s okay to take risks and make mistakes along the way.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
I really admire Kamala Harris. Being alive during the time of the first female vice president is something I feel incredibly grateful to have experienced. Beyond her career accomplishments and politics, Kamala exemplifies so many traits I respect in a person. She’s kind, funny, brave, smart, and ambitious, and she stands up not only for others, but also for herself. She is strong, classy, and resilient, and she has such a positive influence on women. To me, she embodies hope.
Thank you so much for all of your openness so far. Maybe we can close with a future oriented question. If you knew you had 10 years left, what would you stop doing immediately?
Worrying. I’m a big worrier and tend to overanalyze everything. I’d want to spend all my time with loved ones and truly enjoy every moment instead.
